Just a while ago, I uninstalled the half-life 2 portion from the valve content, to save room on my computer. I now want to reinstall it now that some worthwhile mods are coming around, but I don't want to download the 800mb from the internet, and the installation just stuffed up, with some file which is only 12kb didn't work, all I want is the 800 one. Is there a way for Steam to recognise it on the disk and install it, etc? Or is it gonna stuff up like every other avg game.
well... you can rigth click the half life 2 icon properties, then remove game content, then try rienstalling it through steam :D
Try closing steam before you insert the disk. Since the CD key is bound to your account there is really nothing you can do, but its worth a try. You could also try uninstalling everything from Valve (back up your important mods and stuff first though, as well as game saves) and install it.
Yea, I tried that, and the installation stuffed up- all I really wanna know is there a way to isolate that file and add it?
