So, as of late, I've gotten back into Half Life 2 and I've been downloading some new mods for it. It's just that, whenever I attempt to run Half Life 2 or any of it's mods for more than 10 minutes, the game starts to skip and then crashes on me. The thing is, a few months ago, I could run Half Life 2 at somewhat high settings with no problem at all. Also, I've started to clean up my computer of files that are just cluttering it so, I would think Half Life 2 would run smoother as I clear up more space.

In case you ask, here are my specs:

nVIDIA GeForce FX 2500 AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3400+ 1.81 GHz 1 GB of Ram 250 GB HD (50 of which is currently free)

So, I ask, what could the problem be? Nothing major has changed about my computer since a few months ago. I really see no reason as to why Half Life 2 runs so badly now.

If nothing appears wrong, yet something is, that means one thing. Malware. Check for bad stuff on your pc. I suggest using Spybot, and ad-aware

Using latest Gforce cards? I saw that old GeFroce drivers are having problems with Half-Life 2.

Um, Geforce FX 2500 sounds rather low to me...
