No! I'm Spamacus!

After a heck load of waiting it's finally here. Dark Forces remains my favorite game, though it no longer can work on my computer so this mod is truly a great idea.
On behalf of the Dark Forces Mod team, it is my pleasure to announce the release of our second demo featuring the first 3 levels of Dark Forces . After nearly a year of hard work by all members of the team, we’ve finally got it ready for you! It is nearly 2 years now since we released our first demo for Jedi Outcast, when we were still using that engine. Since then, we have swapped to Jedi Academy, and decided to get a demo out for the new engine. We thought we would give you more than just the first level again, so we opted to do a 3-level demo just like the classic Dark Forces 3-level "Super Demo." The demo features:
- The levels "The Secret Base," "After the Massacre" and "The Subterranean Hideout." All designed to take advantage of the Jedi Academy engine. The Secret Base has also been improved since the last demo.
- Nearly 5 minutes worth of fully rendered 3D cutscenes.
- New weapon models.
- New enemies: including the Commando and Dianoga.
- High quality MP3 renderings of the Dark Forces Soundtrack.
- A new menu system, with audio mission briefings.
- The look and feel of the original Dark Forces, whilst also bringing it up to date.
- Much, much more.
The demo is available on our downloads page and weighs in at a hefty 200 megabytes. Modem users will have to either a) use a download manager or b) wait for it to be featured on a gaming magazine’s cover discs. The demo comes as a .zip file, and in it you will find an .exe file, a .pk3 file and all the various documentation. Please, please use the .exe installer and let it install into the default directory – then simply run the mod from the shortcut created on the desktop. If you start messing around with the .pk3 on your own, the mod may not run properly. Mac users are on their own getting the mod to work, we don’t officially support a Mac version – but please do let us know how you get on!
Once the mod is installed, you’re good to go. Turn out the lights, turn your sound up to full and get ready for a trip down memory lane – or for first timers, a chance to see where it all began nearly 10 years ago!
We would like to thank you, the fans, for sticking by us through the last few years and months – without you, there wouldn’t even be a Dark Forces Mod. We really hope you enjoy the demo; but please do bear in mind that it is just a demo, and does not necessarily reflect the final version of the mod. On that note, please check out the readme file which includes a list of known bugs – most of which will be addressed with a later patch.
With regard to mirroring, please, feel free to mirror the .zip file in its entirety. Please include all the documentation and files if you decide to offer it for download on your website. Then, let us know about it, and we'll post a link on the downloads page.
Ok, I’ve bored you long enough, now it’s time to download it and play it! We hope you have as much fun playing the demo as we did making it, and please feel free to send all your feedback, complaints and bug reports to email@example.com. Now, please come and join us in our IRC channel for a release party (it’ll give you something to do whilst it downloads). That’s:
Server: irc.gamesurge.net Channel: #dfmod
Or head over to the chat page if you don’t have an IRC program. See you there!
Enjoy the demo!

I believe someone was working on it, then it got disbanded but I think they may have begun work on it again.
The three level demo is pretty well done. While disappointed that it didn't bring the same feel as I get when playing the orginal DF, the artistic licence taken with the TC makes it up greatly. Especially liked the dizzyness effect caused by the intergators.
Oh, Anoat is no longer dark and creepy. The diangonas (spelling) no longer are submerged in the sewage, so no more randomly popping up tentacles that scare the heck out of you in the near pitch blackness of the sewers...
