Hi I've been in JK2 for a few years and I run a clan too, but we've decided as a clan to add a JKA server. Now, I know you can't just put up a default server, most ppl use mods, but what mod is the best or most popular? I downloaded and installed JAplus v 2.3. But what should i do next? I made a server with this mod, but it was kinda different from other servers that run ja+. For instance, I had the option to choose swords instead of lightsabers, and lots of extra stuff that i never have seen other servers have. What should I have enabled for security etc...? What is the best setup for my server running ja+? What should i disable etc...
Also I heard there is a patch for JKA? is that necessary? I downloaded, but I'm not sure if i installed it right:uhoh: . What do ppl usually like to have on a server, like how much force? what weapon? is there a way to limit sabers to just single saber? Any help will be much appreciated. I just would like someone to get me pointed in the right direction in the JKA world.:feedback:
DrahcirNow, I know you can't just put up a default server, most ppl use mods...
Well, just because many or most servers are running mods doesn't mean you can't put up a "default" (basejka) server, you can. There are many servers running basejka. It depends on what you want to do with the server. The reason many servers are running JA+ is because they want a "FFA dueling" server that makes a Free For All server into a dueling server. If you want to do that you need a mod like JA+.
JA+ is the most popular mod for "FFA dueling", but there are other mods. For Siege, use Movie Battles II. For so-called "RPG" Lugormod is popular. For a real Duel server Blademod or basejka is popular. For class-based "real" Free For All ForceMod III is good.
thank you very much that helps a lot:nodding: . Does anyone know about my other question though? about the 1.01 patch? is it necessary?
If you want a lot of people to be playing on your server, very much so.
A lot more people play v1.01 than v1.00 - and I'm pretty sure most server companies install the v1.01 patch by default.
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
