my brother keeps saying that using lightsabers in JA is just memory, no skill involved. hello lots of skill involoved not only do u need to know the skills but u need to know when to use them and be able to dodge and atk and a load of other stuff. in jk2 sabers were just luck and a tiny bit of skill but in JA it takes a lot of skill and practice to get good at it it dont u agree?

No, I find that it's mostly exploits. That's probably due to the choice of mod the community seems to have adopted, but the saber combat was flawed to begin with.

Most duels consist of two people constantly trying to bash each other with the same move which allows an easy win due to faulty programming.

If you want quality dueling, this game ain't it.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

And Jedi Academy isn't "hack & slash"?

"Yay, I'm randomly waving a badly-rendered lasersword around in one of eight different directions! I'm classy!"

Trust me, when it comes to videogames featuring swordplay, JKA is low in the rankings.

Due to the mod that is commonly used it takes no skill at all. The exploits and horrible hit detection makes it a spam fest and removes all form of strategy with the weapon. Dueling in this game is very poor due to lack of real moves. All duels are basically running back and forth swinging in one of 8 directions occassionally using moves like katas, DFAs, etc. However for the most part it's exploits, etc.

All in all sabering in this game doesn't take that much skill due to how the average server.

Uh actually I completely disagree with you. In JO, dueling/saber combat takes much more skill than in JA. The saber system in JA downright sucks.

If you want a much improved duel experience, download MovieBattles2 B18. It takes so much more skill b/c you actually have to block yourself & time your swings so that the other person isn't blocking. It takes some time to get used to the different saber system, but it is worth it b/cit totally takes away the hack & slash aspect away.

Well, i'm not going to download a mod that was developed by people with a keen interest in making JA like battlefront. Hm, speaking of battlefront, it doesnt have a saber combat system. Its hack & slash as well. Getting back to the point, if you want a good duel, i suggest you and a friend find two broomstick handles, find a secure, enclosed and large area and try to hit each other with the sticks. Beleive me, its fun, and even though its just fooling around, it works because you've got to balance the stick, hold it right, block attacks, counter attacks, and break your oppenants blocks. Quite fun.

I'd like to see another game that matches the skill-requirement of Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy. It's sabering technique's and actions are unique themselves. Mastering it results in win, and is extremely addictive to try and 'conquer'.
