Did you even bother reading my post?

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Yes I did...my point is people are getting too aggravated over a game. You want real sword play? go join a kendo club. You want to play a game...play JKA. JKA is a game. You could argue that...counter strike isnt real because you dont have kick back on the gun (though day of defeat does) and that certain mods allow you to mess with settings. Its a game. If people in this community would just get over that they would be alot happier people, heck they might even play the game :)

(In reference to the CS comment): Well, technically, Counter-Strike 1.6 has realistic gun recoil and (to some extent) kickback, but Source doesn't. Just one of the reasons old-timers like myself consider CS:S to be nub fodder, but CS:S is actually an entirely different game to 1.6 when you actually look at it.

*ahem* Moving on-topic before DataLord tags me for spamming... ;)

We're not complaining because the game's not real enough, or denying the fact that it's a game, what we're saying is that the saber system requires no skill whatsoever, and is actually a very flawed and under-developed combat system.

In the case of certain mods allowing setting to be changed, and applying that point to JKA, there aren't any mods short of one total conversion which improves the combat system (and even then, the new combat system is extremely flawed and glitchy as of the latest build of that mod).

The closest is being able to change the numbers for damage, but then that just causes more problems than it corrects, and the only mod people use that has that (JA+) is so much of a nerfbat that the only metaphor I can use for it is blindly whacking a pinata with a spiked mace.

JKA is a game. Yes.

But it's a game which has developed in the wrong direction, to the point where it's really not worth playing for people who call themselves gamers. Even the Jedi Academy fanboys (of which there are a surprising amount) very rarely actually do anything ingame other than chat, kill jawas or do the occasional sexual portrayal with emotes.

I also think it's fairly safe to say that no one can seriously claim to "play" the game anymore, either, since almost everyone disables at least 80% of the game on their servers. Then again, this last paragraph only takes real effect if you take the word "play" to mean "playing the game". (For the record, I know there are exceptions to that comment - however, I'm only taking into account public servers, not servers within closed communities.)

Anyway, if I were to summarise the whole situation discussed in this thread in one sentence, it would be this:

"Raven Software pulled an EA."

Thats true. I love the servers that refuse using of guns...or the ones that turn off headshots....whats the point. Heck the SP there are parts you ahve to use guns on to even get past

The_Twig;3331588Eh in any raw attacks I end up in I just feed saberists a rocket or something :D

Hey, someone who likes guns! That makes SO much sense:cya:, to just KABLOOOIEE! and they're gone, lol.:D One of my personal favorite things to do is to disintegrate my bro with the disruptor when we play together. He hates that.:naughty:

As to sabers, I think that there is a limited amount of skill involved. All it takes is a little bit of effort to figure things out, and then it's pretty random. Interestingly, I still lose most duels. For sure, there is some skill, but maybe it's hard for someone who has been playing it forever and is tired of it to see how that could be.
