I don't know how many of you guys play ForceMod II

but there are alot of server's called RPG.

everyone just walks around chatting and doing nothing... I mean what the heck? In my opinion if you want to play RPG then go buy KOTOR (which btw is a wonderful game)

but in academy??? RPG??? for me in academy as far as I'm concerned RPG stands for Rocket Propelled Grenade

If I could just get some opinions what you guys think about that...

I mean RPG??? come on! seriously... talk about pointless

(also you get kicked as soon as you kill someone, even in rpg people get killed...)

This can be tied-into the discussion of the Saber Code vs. Competitive Players debate on the "Lamer Haters" thread, and most of the arguments would apply.

For some reason, sci-fi themed First-Person Shooters--like Raven Soft's Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force, and yes, Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy--have a fair amount of people clueless as to what either game is truely all about. Thanks to either FPS game being so sci-fi themed (where in EF, you can play "Starfleet officer" and such in their RPG-made maps made recently common, or in this game you can play Jedi Knight) and being able to play a type of role online that they dream of being, they somehow confused either game to be a "Poor Man's MMORPG" as one person put it. They're being cheap and refraining from buying RPG games--or even MMORPG games especially--thinking it's easier and better to ruin a fine FPS game than it is to pay whatever money for the game, not be able to edit it, and pay it monthly whether you play it frequently or not. You can easily tie-in this problem in JK2 and JA with the Honor-code players who don't truely "Role-Play" in it but just duels, or chats and does nothing.

Again, I find it a problem in JK2 or JA due to competitiveness with Battlefront. The bigger the cult over that game grows, the bigger in number empty servers are in either JK game, and the more nullified the "The admin paid for the server, he does with it all he wants" argument due to the admin likely to trash the server because of wasting money on it.

Again, I reccomend the servers Meush listed, those are true competitive servers. No poor man's role-playing, no complaints about laming.

I have yet to see the fun of RPG servers. Mostly they sit around and do nothing. They don't duel hardly at all. They don't really use weapons but rather just walk around with them. I've seen them use vehicles but normaly i don't see them shooting. Even on a regualr honor code server people actaully do more. Normaly there is a set area where people ffa and the rest stand around and talk or duel. Without an admin honor servers can somewhat function because the players normally can handle things on their own. As for an RPG server there is no order without and admin and i have yet to see one.

This is, Chris, that yea, MMORPG are expensive in the long run, and that most RPG if not all doesn't really require skills, cause you simply stack your attacks. Even KOTOR lost point with me cause of that....

thinking it's easier and better to ruin a fine FPS game

In what doing OUR thing in OUR servers really modify what you play on other's server?? Really, you throw a rock to something much bigger than you. The community released mods that allows us to control and add those rules, as it saw fit. IT suddently grew bigger!

If you aren't happy with a game, or server's rule.. simple, just go play else where... Though, I'd really like to duel you(in jk2) or play FM3 with you on the ForceMod 3 Server sometimes( in there, my name is {l0n3 )

Again, this is tied into the discussion of the thread about "Competitive Players versus Saber Code Players" (which I labeled HKPs, or "Honor-Kiddie Players" for short) in the thread mentioned before, which had recently become active. Since the arguments are similar, I feel this thread is useless as the main debate is happening on the other thread (click here to go to it).

There's a difference between a good RPG server and a none-laming server. In fact, in a good RPG server, 'laming' is encouraged if you're a Sith. As are weapons, as there are only usually a couple of lightsaber wielding players. Problem with 'good' RPG servers is that they are few and far between. I only ever found one and I couldn't find it again.

The Spiderman JA Total Cinversion is going to have an RPG mode, but alot better than that, featuring Combat and Non-Combat, Money systems, hero/villian point systems, level systems, racing, gambling, dueling and much more. (Only we haven't actually started it yet! LOL!)

I think a Star wARs Game should remain Star Wars themed.

Somebody proposed a GTA mod for JA, you propose Spider-man.... :-/

Honestly, before I'll download these kinds of mods, I'll plug in on my PS2 and play GTAVC or Spiderman 2, cause your mod will never bring the feel and excitement of the real game(s).

Though, if you'd make a GTA SW theme, that would be different!

See what I mean?
