its sad and i didnt want to beleive it, but its true. jk2 is indeed dieing and most people are moving to jk3. i hated those assholes for deserting jk2. but now that there are about 18 people playing at one time, im one of those assholes moving to jk3.. kinda sad but hopefully jk3 will be as good if not better. :bawl:
I tried Jedi Outcast briefly, after having Jedi Academy for some time, and I thought that it was rather pathetic. You can't pick twin or double-bladed sabers, and when I voice my opinions, everyone just tells me how pathetic I am, how Jedi Academy really sucks...etc. I agree that the community isn't so good. Of course, having said that, I'll propably be flamed etc.
I always liked jk2's sabering system better.... and despised the addidtion of the new saber types in jk3 at times because, for example, dual bladed is intensly easy to spam and requirres almost no skill to do well with. Dispite that, jk2 is extremly old... and so is JA. really, its time for a new JK. I still play jk2 now and then... but ma inly its single player. It has a great single player.
When I got Jedi Academy, there was quite a bit I missed from Jedi Outcast, but I actually liked a lot of what was in JA. Lots of bugs and gameplay issues that were in JO have been fixed and improved.
Sure there may be a couple of disappointments and new issues in Jedi Academy, but it's nothing you can't live with. At least it's something new. I don't think there are many that really would play Jedi Outcast forever without getting bored of it at some point. It's even the same for JA...which is why we need another Jedi Knight game!
Having never played JO, I probably don't even belong here (I got here through JK3files), but here's my thoughts.
For those that miss the JO MP gameplay, JA+ comes to the rescue bringing back the roll (multiple patch versions, take your pick), red DFA and the good old kick that everyone loves so much.
For those who complain about dual lightsabers and the lightstaff (double-bladed lightsaber), you only whine about how cheap and easy they are because you don't have a clue as to how limiting they are and vunerable they make you. An expert with single can beat anyone who uses dual or staff. Seriously, the best thing the staff is for is FFA when you get a large group of people in a limited area, otherwise it's next to worthless with the constant katas that you pull off with it just from trying to dodge.
Dual lightsabers? They're good for raw power, but no finness. Sure you can chop someone in pieces, but your moves are highly limited. Your best moves leave you wide open for attack, meaning against a skilled opponent you'd be dead before you can move again. The only super-move that doesn't make you wide open is obvious in its execution, making it easily predictable and avoidable.
So quit your whining, just learn how to counter staff and duals. Don't think it can be done? Join a clan and they'll teach you, provided that they're good enough.
Ok, I'm done ranting now.
Nailsthere are about 18 people playing at one time
I play the old 1.02 version and there are up to 400 some at a time. 1.04 of JK2 has more players yet. Where do you get the number 18 :uhoh:
wow Eddie, well said. i never thought about it that way, the different uses for sabor styles.. does anyone ever use staff in a 1v1 duel?
I still see many clans with many players, and alot of them playing active. A community that likes the current system over a new version, in their eyes and mine, JA is really pathatic. Sure vice versa the same, i know, i dont want to start ANOTHER rant about it. Anyway, activity is not low, just get on some bigger servers.. or start playing instagib :)
on 1.4 patch or something (The latest) is the one im playing on. are u playing on the same patch or is ur patch more active??
1.04 patch, but you just gotta sort the servers. Their are nearly always 100+ players playing on many servers, and some servers like the [LOL]HOMEBASE's are nearly always crouded. many great and big clans have much people joining :)
