Probably a stupid question but does anyone have any info on the next Jedi Knight game? Is there gonna be one?

If you can't find reference to it on Google, it probably doesn't exist. http://forums.filefront.com/showthread.php?t=184668 That thread on "JK4" has some decent ideas on it, but no talk of actual information on whether a new installment will be made. Personally, I doubt it.

This is the word from LucasArts as of May 4, 2005

At this time, we have no plans for another Jedi Knight game but we will pass along your feedback to our Production department. Thank you, LucasArts Public Relations

Jedi Academy came out about a year-and-a-half after Jedi Outcast. Jedi Academy came out over a year-and-a-half ago. Not only is there no new game, they aren't working on one and don't even have plans for another one.

Meanwhile, KOTOR came out for PC after Jedi Academy, and KOTOR II is already out. Battlefront II has been announced, even though Battlefront is less than a year old.

When a "community" actively humiliates, punishes, and drives players (so-called "lamers") out of their servers, the game isn't as successful as it should have been. If a game isn't successful, LucasArts doesn't get a good return on their investment (that's $$$$$ for you slower guys). If LucasArts doesn't make a good return on their investment, they don't make a follow-up game. Instead, they put their money into developing games that will make them more money (i.e. KOTOR II, Battlefront II, Episode III, Republic Commando, Jump to Lightspeed for SW Galaxies, Empire at War, etc. etc. etc.) because the communities for those games aren't self-destructive. It's a business, plain and simple.

Yea, I understand but I thought Jedi Outcast sold really well... Not sure about Jedi Academy (which I didn't think was as good a game.) I know Kotor sold well not sure about KotorII...

Was Star Wars Battlefront any good? I've heard mixed reviews. Since the movie came out I've been wanting another Star Wars game to play and don't really want to go through Outcast or Academy again. Maybe I'll get KotorII but I liked the first person saber stuff alot better than the RPG version. I'm not sure what you're talking about w/ the "lamers" humiliation thing... but I didn't really play JK online much. I duelled a bit but really I just liked playing the single player game. I sure wish they'd do another X-wing vs. Tie Fighter or something along that line. Fighter Simulation, you know? that would be sooo much fun w/ good graphics. :) Anyway, thanks for the input guys. chris

Battlefront is decent. I still play it once in a while, though I find I would rather play with the bots than real folks. I doubt we'll be seeing new flight sims any time soon; they seem to have gone out of favor a bit. It would be nice, though. My joystick hasn't had any exercise in a long time.

'[=|JSA|=Rouge1'] as far as lamers go if you want a laming server then go rent your own

I did rent my own server (four servers as a matter of fact) so people could have places to play where they wouldn't be abused by amslap, ampunish, amslay, amtele into lava, etc. And they were all popular. But that didn't stop all the players being driven out of the game by all the abuse on other servers. If you actually read or understood my earlier post you would have known that telling me to rent my own server completely misses the point.

LucasArts is not going to waste money developing games for a community that is self-destructive and has a large number of servers where they think it is their "right" to abuse players. Telling me to rent my own servers isn't going to change that. Been there, done that. Now do you understand?

all im saying is each to their own if i prefer to play on a server that uses a mod and has set rules then thats my choice same as it is yours to run your servers as you see fitit's all a point of view i think it's fun to be able to duel and not be lamed left and right and thats my choice does it mean that either of our choices is right or wrong no it doesnt it is our personal choice each to their own , but if you come to our server then expect to be punished slapped etc. if you dont follow our rules it's that simple same if i went to your server if im on a server that is purely ffa then i dont complain about being lamed cause it's an ffa server and those are your rules, even if a server says ffa though you still ned to check the rules of the server that is just common courtesy for those that cant or wont then they have nobody but themselves to blame for it

Don't you get it?

For once, look beyond your own little world of your server, try looking at the big picture.

By slapping and punishing and abusing players you and everyone else who does the same thing have driven people out of Jedi Academy to other less hostile games where people don't behave like that. That made Jedi Academy less popular than it would have been. If Jedi Academy is less popular and LucasArts doesn't make a good return on their investment, they don't waste money making a new Jedi Knight game.

Even slider, the author of JA+ mod, finally realized the harm and damage that people were doing to Jedi Academy by using his mod to abuse and humiliate players. That's why he finally said enough is enough, took ampunish and amslay out of the latest version, and replaced them with less abusive commands. Unfortunately, it's too little too late to save the Jedi Knight series.

We can thank all the short-sighted people slapping and slaying and punishing players for killing the Jedi Knight games, so LucasArts has no plans to make another one.
