I was just wondering what kind of things people like to see in mods..

the main character should be: a hero a villain neutral ?

one hero vs a group of heroes?

normal people vs star wars like with powers?

human vs alien?

also the ending should be: open closed unexpected ?

hero and villain normal or a madman and an avenger?

hero and villain friends or not related?

future vs past story?

also should the main character be the hero or just a normal person contributing to the fight and getting no or little glory?

i think these are the main questions but feel free to add your ideas\opinions\suggestions to help out. :)

Unfoldingsith;4220176I was just wondering what kind of things people like to see in mods..

the main character should be: a hero a villain neutral ?

Preferably a hero or 'good guy'.

one hero vs a group of heroes?

In this engine? A group is a little unreasonable. One would be plenty, although in engines that support it a group or party of heroes always adds more interest (interpersonal interactions enhance plotlines).

normal people vs star wars like with powers?

That depends on what your story is. I think most people playing this game would probably want to play as a Jedi, though.

human vs alien?

Call me crazy, call me speciesist, but I want to play as my own species. =p

also the ending should be: open closed unexpected ?

Open if there's plans for a sequel, closed if there aren't. I don't play games to depress myself, so I'd prefer some type of 'feel good' ending.

hero and villain normal or a madman and an avenger?

I've always been fond of the 'not crazy' type of villain. Thrawn comes to mind -- he's not evil, but he's a tactical genius.

hero and villain friends or not related?

Either works so long as the plot is well-written.

future vs past story?

Same as above.

also should the main character be the hero or just a normal person contributing to the fight and getting no or little glory?

I typically feel more connected with a character that is the story's hero. Hence why when I first played NWN I felt more connected to Aribeth and Aarin than my own player character.

Planning on making some type of mod? ;)

I always preferred being a Wookiee on Galaxies. Then again, I was in an interracial guild. Er... I mean ethnically diverse. :cort:

Humans are kinda getting boring, to be honest, mainly because virtually every character ends up being human. Shake it up a bit, have some variation.

Inyri Forge;4220287Preferably a hero or 'good guy'.
How about switching sides? good to bad , bad to good etc

Inyri Forge;4220287 In this engine? A group is a little unreasonable. One would be plenty, although in engines that support it a group or party of heroes always adds more interest (interpersonal interactions enhance plotlines).
i was thinking more like a group of characters that doesn't travel together meaning that you play one at a time and they are connected through the plot (each can have his own ending or one for all)

Inyri Forge;4220287That depends on what your story is. I think most people playing this game would probably want to play as a Jedi, though.
I think so too but it can be a regular swordsman or just someone who fights without powers...

Inyri Forge;4220287Call me crazy, call me speciesist, but I want to play as my own species. =p
I have to agree with Kouen here so having a multiple species selection would be much better than having a default race but the question is should each race have it's own skills (not only looks)?

Inyri Forge;4220287Open if there's plans for a sequel, closed if there aren't. I don't play games to depress myself, so I'd prefer some type of 'feel good' ending.

I know it's up to the plot but how many sequels are better than the originals? or do you expect from a mod to have sequels?
I've always been fond of the 'not crazy' type of villain. Thrawn comes to mind -- he's not evil, but he's a tactical genius.

Same thought here and the fact that he is a genius doesn't have to make him the typical sissy with brains.
Either works so long as the plot is well-written.

Same as above.

Understood :)
I typically feel more connected with a character that is the story's hero. Hence why when I first played NWN I felt more connected to Aribeth and Aarin than my own player character.

Maybe it's good idea to let the player have a choice between staying and moving up the ranks or being a deserter?
Planning on making some type of mod? ;)

Not just one it's just the beginning! =p

Tho i'm not sure which game engine is suitable for what should i use this old quake 3 engine or rebuild everything from scratch on a new engine ... i'm thinking more of a combo between third person and rpg with manual fighting (or just like adding conversation options to jka)

Aso played nwn,nwn2,kotor,kotor2,etc (probably everything) and i have to say i like having control over the way i fight like in JKA rather than the auto system as in most rpg games.

The plot is more important to me than the rest as you all agree it's up to the plot to convince the player to love the game.

No response .... well if anyone is reading then should it be a star wars story (got a few right now) or should it be something else? except from that problem there is always the issue of whether the primitive quake 3 engine would express my story beautifully enough as it should be.. game engine is the biggest problem ...

Hmm. If I would have my own story. It would be about two Jedis, one of them as the player and the other guy a NPC. He would afterwards be kidnapped and used by the Desciples Of Ragnos for Marka Ragnoses body and you have got to save him before... will finish it later.

Isn't that a bit cliche kidnapping revange pain arrogance fear love so classic i was actually thinking about something like:

1 the sith are weak(or not) and they resurrect some ancient sith to save them(preferably exar kun cuz hes the best) from the hero of the jedi so now the hero needs to deal with a real sith lord and perhaps resurrect an ancient jedi?

2 loved kotor and reven there is a big hole there when reven left to fight the "true sith" and the exile in kotor 2 left after him , some believe raven wasn't really sith he was just forced to be sith in order to take control over the galaxy and organize everything to fight these "true sith" this story is about the "true sith" and the great war between them and the known galaxy and what happened to reven?

i did my star wars home work :D

on the other hand i got some ideas not related to star wars that are just as good the problem again is that i really don't which game engine can express something that complex and beautiful without ruining it.

What happened to Revan hasn't yet been revealed, it's likely to be covered if the KotOR series is ever continued, or forgotten if the series is dropped.

If you'd like to discuss KotOR further, check out our KotOR forums.

OK. Continuing. ... before the Ragnos uses his body for his own life. Going there too late, you can see how he is chained and Ragnos is flying into him. He possesses his body and you shout "NOOO!!!" (like Obi-Wan did in Ep1). The cultists notice you and start attacking. After the fight takes the place and you kill all of the cultists you notice that Marka Ragnos has escaped. You go out of his tomb and look on the Korriban's surface to be changed into lava-like surface with Ragnos on a tower. You must get across the lava surface (using the stones on the lava) and when you reach the tower, an undead Tavion jumps from a window of that tower to stop you. When you are done fighting she will run, breaking the tower enternace open. You go in, when suddenly the 5 stairs you are on brake and you fall to the very bottom and Tavion's back. *SLASH, SLASH, SLASH...* And she's totally defeated and magically digs underground (it looks like this: The ground under her starts to burn, when a big flame comes up, she starts to go under and then some lava will block the ground she has gone through), so you run for Marka. When you go up you can see him flying in the air, saying: "Oh boy!" and Marka replies "Your friend is mine now! And soon, you'll join him" creating a big force beam, that will hit you with a mighty blow and after the white screen goes out, you are lying on the ground with Marka laughing. Then it goes to a fight. Marka uses Force Beams and throws his saber at you (in the middle of the fight he uses these sentences "On your knees, Jedi!", "*singing*Get up, come on get down with the Jedi, MWAHAHAHA!", "You fight well, Jedi... But it isn't enough *Force Beam*" and "After a hundred years, I've come back to fullfill my destiny!") and after you defeat him, he slowly falls on the top of the tower, gets up, puts out a lightsaber and laughs at you. After the fight you manage to kill (using the force) and he gets off your friends body and flies away. Your friend is still alive, so you fly to Yavin, in order to put him in a bacta tank. You land at the academy. Everything's normal. You go in with blood spluttered all around and Jedi lying everywhere. You hurry up to Skywalker's Chamber. You go in and see him fighting Ragnos. You then help him in the fight and finally defeat Ragnos. His ghost then EXPLODES throwing you away across the room. You then meet up with your friend, seeing he's healed and safe. You hug him and say "I'm glad that you live... and glad that this is over... Or not" *Camera points on the planet Korriban* (Korriban is in a shape of the Ragnoses head) and then this sound is heard across the whole galaxy: "HAHAHA!!!" *CUTS TO THE CREDITS PAGE*... The end.... It's pretty short but before this part with your friend being kidnapped there are alot of missions like "Take an Imperial Radar Out", "Investigate the crash site of an Imperial Star Destroyer" etc. Would be a good game. I hope JK4 will be like this... LOL.

Wow.... mkem you really made a whole story and it's better than mine cuz it fits well to the jka game and what it offers(as a working environment) this is a really well put idea with much thought, i have to say i like it especially that it's very detailed.

I really hope that there will be a jk4 (but i doubt it) and if you really want to make this mod/story for jk3 i'l try my best :) (all the credit is yours i just do this for fun and exp)
