Hey, Ful*Crum, one other thing that may help you out. Find some people who are willing to test things and give advice. I'm in touch with some people for my work, too, and they give me some very good advice. Here's a for instance. In my map project, I had created an entire big room on my own and filled it up with a whole bunch of what I thought was cool stuff. But I had two people that couldn't tell what it was or why it was there, and they both said it was pretty poor. That room is now gone. I had probably 20+ hours of work put into it, too, but it didn't fit, and is gone. I'm not mad at my friends - quite the opposite! Their advice was good, and so is the project now. :] Another thing you might try is to join a group of people that work on something. Obviously, that won't work on a skin, but if you try something else, think about it. You DO have potential! I've been looking at your work here and there, and you have good ideas - you just need to work on your style and your methods of getting your ideas created. And that will come naturally. Don't let bad reviews get you down! You'll get it if you try, try again.

Absolutely!

Well are you gonna answer my question or are you gonna just quote people all day? Because I have no time for this nonsense. I just need to know if you are telling the truth or not (and im sorry if i sound rude but I am getting rather impatient with you). Perhaps I misread you?

Thats the thing though. Noone wants to help me test it. Infact, I have no real friends online (boo-hoo :( ) The only thing that I do with my time is try to make a house with makermod or try to mod. But apparently if im getting crummy reviews I should just move on to makermod. Am i right?

I dont know who told you that, but i think you should make a decision yourself. I mean like, you dont HAVE to keep doing modding - sure, we'd all like you to because its a great hobby to be involved with. The thing with most reviews on mods nowadays - is that the reviewer doesnt say if they had fun using that mod. And thats sort of important to me, because i make mods so i can have fun using them and so that others can have fun as well. It does get extremely harsh sometimes, especially when people dont actually try the mod out for themselves, and they just base their own opinion off the review and the screenshots. Take my [SCA] stargate for example - i got a whole ton of bad comments from people who thought that the mod was bad JUST because it had a red wormhole, which was different to the series. I can bet that almost all of the people that said that did not download the mod and actually try it out for themselves to see if they really liked it. Those that did were able to ignore the fact that it was different to the TV series and said it was an enjoyable and creative idea.

Thats what you should look for, the people that actually download your mod, and find it fun to use. Those are the sort of people you should ask opinions from, not the people that just judge the mod from the review.

You shouldn't want people to tell you that your work is good, you should want people to give you feedback/criticism/advice.

- Being told that you're awesome will make you feel better for an hour. - Getting advice will improve your skills for the entire duration of your modding career.

Decide for yourself which is more important.

Create things because you enjoy creating them, not because you want to be praised for creating them. If you don't enjoy what you do, don't do it. There are no "right" and "wrong" answers when deciding what you want to do with your life.

To be honest, if I'd been dealing with your Corrupt Jan skins, I would have been much, much harsher than Inyri was, however, I would also have been constructive. You seem to overlook comments which express a negative opinion of your mod(s) because you want praise - this is a very bad thing to do. It's almost ALWAYS the negative comments which will help you.

If you want to get anywhere with modding, ignore people who simply praise you without offering feedback, and pay attention to the people who give you feedback and advice, because the advice is infinitely more valuable than that warm fuzzy feeling.

That's why I'll never outright say "This file is good.", for two reasons:

1. Because I'm not here to make people feel better, I'm here to give them feedback. Everything has a flaw, and there is always something to criticise. 2. Neutrality is my policy. I'd rather stay 'on the fence' and let people make their own minds up.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

i dont look for praise like most of the would-be modders do. I want people to have fun with my mod(s). I didnt receive one comment by Inryi on what I would do that would improve it other than make the face look 'beat up' like KoToR. Frankly I haven't played Kotor and if someone doesn't get me a picture, I can't improve upon that basis. I look for advice here on what I should do. I just asked or the truth, I didn't asked to be showered like a wedding shower or whatever BS you use as an example. I just want people to appreciate my work for once and not get flamed by people like Insecure. I am looking for stuff constructive. I AM IAM I AM. Its just hard getting some suggestions on what to change if I dont have the source of your example. It just doesn't add up. Ive seen some reviews of yours, Datalord's, old AmosMagee, Schvio's, and some others. Some do say 'I suggest you download this mod, .........'. Yes I have even seen some from you Kouen, don't play me as if im new to downloading stuff. Jesus tell me the truth and dont flame, should I quit or not?

im sick of your aditure toward this issue of quiting or not, your wasting your time. You could be improving you skill in the modeling field, but no, you have to bit** about peoples comments.

dude google-image KoTor, your get more pictures then you need. and it is not Inryi's job to be your teacher, i learned most of what i know of mapping by myself. and we are not here to flame you, its in the rules that we cant. If all your going to do is yell at fliefront admins and filefront members then you should quit. personally, i think that you are O.K. at what you do, i would hate to see you quit just because of what some people said about a skin you made. when the wight brothers were making the airplane people would say that thay were hopeless and that it would never work
