This isn't a trolling message but it may well be a rant so I hope I've put it in the right place. I know KOTOR is said by many to be the most brilliant thing since sliced bread but 'I just don't get it', I found the game to be boring and I just couldn't get into it AT ALL despite numerous attempts. I wanted to love it because I am a huge Star Wars fan, but alas I could not, to me, it was in a word... boring. I know I'm in a TINY minority with this sort of thought but wanted to get your thoughts on it also. :saber:

Maybe RPG is nothing for you, editing and upgrading your character takes some time and for some people it can grow boring. I think then that games like Battlefront and Republic Commando are more you Star Wars games.

I thought of it kind of in between boring and fun. My birthday is in the begining of the school year so I'm guessing schoolwork sucked most of the fun out of it. And my gay pc won't allow me to see the movies either, so that made even less fun. And I don't know why, but for some reason, I thought I had to hurry up and finish it(not doing side quests and other small things) before christmas, so I never knew what was going on. Well thats my opinion.

I find games single player games like Starwars Jedi Knight to be boring, but KOTOR is true gem among the rocks, other starwars games leave you with a detached feeling from the game, while KOTOR is one of the first games ever really makes you feel like your apart of the game, namely a jedi, since what you choose to do really does make a difference. Other RPG's leave you with a feeling of "I would not do that, I would do...." personally I think KOTOR is one of the more remarkable games of the last 10 years, if not the most remarkable. And I'm not even a starwars geek.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know what you're saying but I guess you're really lucky for it to have had that impact on you as a game. I probably feel similarly towards Halo 2 that many feel towards KOTOR, I found the title to be completely engrossing and loved every minute of playing it through to the conclusion. I would have loved to have had that with KOTOR .. shame really. Nice to see some PC's are coming out of the closet too and being accepted into peoples homes.

Halo is mostly hype, while KOTOR games are not.

lol maybe its just that you dont like rpg's. I have halo 2 but enjoy KOTOR much much more because you dont do the same thing over and over again like for instance killing one of the flood turning around pissing your pants because it has come back to life and killed you. Or running out of ammo and being forced to use a plasma pistol to fend off 500 of the Flood. Its an okay game. Kotor is the best rpg out there. Forget Final Fantasy. My only disliking about it is going sooo slow under the water with the enviromental suit. Well my point was that you probobly dont like rpgs and that is the reason you dont like KOTOR.

I love KOTOR and will but KOTOR 2 in a month or two once lots of reviews are out and(more importantly) the price drops.

Halo for PC is a great game. I've switched to it from the Jedi Knight series for my run and gun fun(sorry about the rhyme). Haven't finished it though, because I seriously hate the Flood. Whoever thought of them should have a plasma gernade shoved where the sun don't shine.

KOTOR and Halo are different ends of teh spectrem. I love RPGs... but sometimes I just want to blow the living sh*t out of stuff.

Oh, Lt. Taco... there's a KOTOR mod on PCGameMods that gets rid of the need for those damn suits. Plus you can use real weapons and have your whole party underwater. ;)

I don't think I have a dislike of RPGs because I've happily played others. I just found KOTOR to be particularly slow and repetitive, maybe I didn't give it enough time, I still have it so I may give it another go based on what you're saying.

As for Halo, I agree, the flood do suck BUT you feel a real sense of accomplishment when you've completed the game so keep at it. I also have to add that although I know Halo was a lot of hype, for me at least it completely lived up to the hype. I don't review games based on hype, I review them based on the fun I am personally having with the title and Halo for me was stylish and great gaming and story telling.

That's exactly what I thought it would be when I first heard about it. Combined with the fact that I'd played other RPGs before and found them to be dull (plus the fact that most of them seem to involve magical orcs with wings and suchlike, which is the sort of thing I hate), I decided not to bother buying it.

But ultimately I thought I'd give it a go, and then that was it. I was living there for forty hours of my life. I just thought the atmosphere it created was brilliant, and the storyline was one of the strongest I've seen in a game. I just felt as though I was actually there, being that person I'd created, doing all the stuff that he was doing.

But if you don't get that, I guess it depends on the person playing it.

So far as Halo is concerned... please don't bring Halo into a KotOR forum... it's like blasphemy, only without the god parts. Halo is mediocre at best. A real sense of accomplishment when you finished it? Not really. Just a real sense of 'wow, I think I just found the easiest, most repetitive FPS ever made'. Even in Legendary mode, it posed very little challenge to many people – except, maybe, for finding your way through endless numbers of identical rooms.

It was kind of like what Serious Sam could have been if they'd lied about what it was actually supposed to be, and done it badly. As it stands though, Halo pretends to be something it's not -- some kind of deep narrated uber-FPS -- and it doesn't back it up with any decent weapons, gameplay, a narrative or interesting levels. I swear, I got lost so many times playing Halo just because each room on a certain level is almost exactly the same as the last. Especially on the level where you're following that evil blue-light flying robot around when you first encounter the Flood. Serious Sam is also a mindless blasting game, but, that doesn’t pretend to be anything else. Indeed, it marketed itself on how many enemies there were to kill. It was fun, some of the level design was pretty interesting, and it was even funny. Halo is none of these things. I have trouble finding anything in Halo that would allow it to earn the status it has received.
