i've been following the games progress since xmas. though some have been following it for 3 years.
anyway it launches in November '06 and today EU and US beta sign ups were officially announced.
Awesome im going to try it
I applied about a week ago... no word yet...
do you need to be active on their forum to get in ?
They said no, but I don't see it as hurting, at all. Activity there shows activity in their community. I have two posts there :p
lets see if i get in /me plays with thumbs
from what i have read many thousands of people have applied on both sides of the atlantic so im hoping a little participation on the official boards might increase my chances somewhat. having said that they are doing some PR work where they gave beta pass's to various long term fanzines whom are running competitions with those pass's as the prizes. i myself made an entry for a video contest on a german fanzine so maybe that avenue might prove fruitful. on another note i noticed most of the competitions end after the world cup so perhaps beta will be just around the corner from that mile stone :)
They sent me an email about how they thanked me for my interest in the game, and that because I had registered as a member of a "large guild", they wanted me to make sure I got everyone there involved too.
Hmm, not sure what that means...
i heard a while back there was a chance being part of a big clan / guild / kinship would increase beta chances state side. as for the EU version well quite frankly i dont give a monkeys anymore the game can flop for what i care.
to cut a long story short i heard Codemasters were distributing lotro in the EU so gave one of their other MMO's a whirl to try the service, was utterly disappointed and wont be going back ever again (see http://www.freewebs.com/codiesvent/ for more :0wned:).
on the plus side guild wars looks tastey so let the adventure begin this evening!
