Okay, here's the deal.. I recently downloaded these: Aegean, Anomie, Black Elk, Covington, Hecate, Promethius. I opened them and installed them. (some had "how to" stuff, others didn't, so I just substituted values) Out of those, the Aegean, Covington and Hecate worked. They were on hull variants of the Intrepid for some reason... And some normal ships were missing. Next, if i ran single skirmish, the game crashed. If I ran a campagin, it'd get stuck at the pre-mission "Loading" screen.

Can someone help me fill in the needed files to put these in game properly, without removing any of the originals?

Thanks!

The reason they were intrepid variants was because you put them all as the same ship class as the intrepid. i.e. if the intrepid is cruiser2, and you put another ship as cruiser2, then the new ship would be a variant of the first.

You can download a guide to install ships from SFC3files.com... http://sfc3files.com/file.info?ID=9250

Ah... But that doesn't explain 1 - why ships like Soverign went missing when I hadn't touched them 2 - why some of the ships didn't show up at all 3 - why they caused my game to crash

When Upper ships disappear (for example, when you install a CA class, and the BCH, DN, and BB classes Disappear), it is because there is an error in either your defaultcore or defaultloadout file. Defaultloadout is usually the file which messes most people up. One missing space, or tab, and the ship's gone. :P - If I remember correctly, you can't mix technologies if you have the patch. Therefore, ships you install with other races' weapons won't show up. - For the crashing, you're on your own, :P - One tip - When installing, install the ships one at a time. Sure, it's slow, and annoying, and memory intensive, but you'll be able to find out which ship screwed you over, :P - Another - Make backups of your defaultcore and loadout files. They're only about 24k in size in total, so it's worth it. (Unlike BC... where you had to backup a GB's worth of files, :P)

Ah. Guess that means i'll need to figure out some rules. The Aegean doesn't really come with any.. it has the custom load out. Is there a way to change that to default?
