I have just purchased a new Sony Vaio. Nice system but it does not like installing some games. When installing SFC3 it would shut down around 60% of the way through the install. I got around that by transfering the files to a temp folder on my system and installing the game from there. I then installed the Direct X 9 patch. The game starts up and goes through the intros but as soon as it starts to load it asks for the CD to be inserted. The CD is inserted, I click on accept but it cant find the CD. Whats up with that? Can any one help?
One more thing. I'm using XP.
I have an XP too. Do you have a d drive and e drive. If you do switch the cd in the other drive. Thats all i can say.
I´ve got the same problem after installing the beta patch. I´m using XP, too, having two drives d and e. My computer is a dell laptop inspiron 8100. the problem can´t be solved by switching the drives. SFC3 keeps asking for the cd and may not find it being already inserted - frustrating....!!!!
The problem is in install you described. To copy files from cd and then install them makes a problem because a game then look`s for cd on your hard disk. This is why there is ""NO CD"" . Stupid, yes i know, but you may try with ghost cd. And for your cd-player the problem is in the quality. As most cd`s are burned these days with speeds over 16x and as most cd-players these days are not capable to read these cd`s because they can read larger files only on 16X speed , this is the reason why you can`t install game. Of course this is not when just copying files from cd to hard. Weard, i think. So the solution is to buy new cd-player or if possible to dawnload new firmware for your cd-player. Of course firmware is working just for some time, and then you have to find newer. Try with new TEAC CD-RW people say it`s real teac with teac`s old but trusted laser head that can read almost destroyed CD`s. Hope this will explain you some things and help you.
