I have the same error. I have re-installed the game too. Also I have the DirectX 9 patch. The thing I must conclude is that it is my video card. Before when I had my crummy TNT2 it worked flawlessly. Now I have a ATI Radeon 9500 Pro installed, and the game will not work. I get to the battle screen and after I click ready the game farts out to that error exception message. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I have a TNT 2 riva also My game ran without ne problem at all for like 30 hours of gameplay, then i got this one error where i would have a fleet and id go fight some romulans and soon as the game came up after the ready thing the ship would just blow up, well i was hey hey free prestige. Then right after that i got a bunch of errors as i would see that happen like this one, so the things people said were reinstall the game and get all the newest drivers, i did that and now no crashes but my cursor flickers like crasy and disappears

Hello, it's the copy of activision reply at me please read for any probleme before take a new driver or anything

Ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for the game.

Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites.

Set your desktop settings to 640 by 480 and High Color (16 bit).

All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game.

Turn the hardware acceleration for your sound card to Basic. 1) Go to the Start menu > Settings > Control Panel. 2) Double-click on the Multimedia icon. 3) Select the Audio tab. 4) Click on the Advanced Properties button in the Playback section. 5) Click on the Performance tab. 6) Reduce the Hardware acceleration to Basic, the 2nd notch from the left. 7) Click Apply and then OK 2 more times. Run the game now. Don't forget to turn the acceleration back up to restore the high-end features for your sound card when using other applications.

Download and install the most recent version of DirectX from Microsoft's website.

Download and install the latest patch for the game from our website.

If you are using an ATI Radeon card, do the following: 1) Right-click on the shortcut for the game and select Properties. 2) Click the Compatibility tab. 3) Checkmark Disable Visual Themes 4) Click Apply and then OK. 5) Now try to run the game.

Try to play game . If and when you install a patch ( patch must be adequate for youre version of game ) if there are a problems post me.

For ATI cards thera are new drivers available ( catalyst 3.05 ) but even without them game should work properly. The steps are same as written above, but if you have problems post me.
