Hey guys i just upgraded to an 8800 gts to play this game and i was dissapointed by my performance, in the demo it averages around 30 fps, taking considerable hits when assaulting the main house. Could it be because of my processor with the amount of AI in singleplayer? My System: AMD Athlon 3800+ XFX 8800GTS 320mb XXX Edition 1gig DDR-SDRAM SoundBlaster Audigy 4 CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 750W Windows XP Home SP2 Also, would upgrading to an Athlon X2 4200 boost my performance in MOH:Ab?
it may boost your performance, but EA has come out and said that most dual core processors are not running the game right. i guess when they built the game it was supposed to be a single processor. they actually told me that if there is a way to turn 1 side of my dual core off the game would work great! what a joke. i have the same vid card as you do! it is actually really good! i'd bump the RAM up if i was you. that is what you are lacking. stick with the processor for the mean-time and bump the RAM up 1 gig more and you should be ok! good luck!
Is that true about EA saying that it doesnt work well on dual cores? because the recommended cpu requirement is a dual core processor
What resolution are you trying to run it at. Also, make sure you don't have v-sync on. I would even dare to say to get another gig of ram. On my system(not too different from yours) AMD 4600x2, 2gigs ram, & a 8800gts 320mb, @ 1680*1050 resolution I average 60fps.

yeah i'm running AMD 64FX-60, 4 gb ram, Ageia PhysX accelerator, 8800GTS 320, resolution 1280x1024???or so(maybe higher don't remember), and getting 60+/-fps ..... EA told me what i posted, that my dual core processor is the cause of most of the problem.... this is the exact response i got from them: Hello, Thanks for writing us back! Thanks for sending us the dxdiag file. I have looked over the system information included with your email and it shows that you're system has a dual core processor. If you run a dual core CPU, such as a Pentium D or AMD X2, or even a Pentium 4 with HyperThreading, you may notice that the game is quite jerky even at high framerates or even crash. Things seem to run fast and slow randomly - this is because the game has compatibility issues with dual core CPUs. So not only is there no performance boost with dual core CPUs, there are actually issues which require the following steps to be resolved: Please try to limit the application to only one CPU Instead of two which is the default value. To do this: 1. Launch the task manager. * Press and hold "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Delete" on your keyboard * Click "Task Manager" 2. Select the "Process" Tab and try searching for the game's ".exe" process 3. Right-click on it and select "Set Affinity ..." 4. There deselect every checkbox except for the first CPU, "CPU 0" and click "OK". Arlene M. EA Technical Support i sent back to them: well, stuck on the beginning of the 4th mission(Op. Varsity) and cannot play anymore..... good to know! **I CAN STILL PLAY ALL MAPS IN MULTIPLAYER THOUGH!** -so if the game calls for dual core processors why are they telling me to limit it to only 1 processor to run the game... i had no jerking or running fast/slow issues!
Thats EA for ya.
Also, try turning sound quality down to medium (or low, if you are on medium now), and keep the speaker settings on 2 speaker (don't use surround sound - if you have the Matrix mode to mock SS use that instead). I gained a 10-15 fps improvement by doing this.
ok guys i got some good news......... if you're running the PhysX accelerator card itself, disable it in the device manager, update the drivers for it, and try playing thru Operation Varsity again. i beat the game today! that is all i needed to do! btw- EA is due to have the first patch out for MOH:A by the end of the week! keep an eye out!
