i have alot of skins for moh spearhead in my main ta dir. they work fine seporatly but theres so many when i need to go pure it takes me a year to get them out, is it possible to combined all of the pk3 files into one bigger one? ive tried doing it but compressing and renaming the .zip to .pk3 but when i return to game... no skins work. plz help
you can put all your skins in one directory but you're going to have to go through each .tik & .shader file to make sure you have all the directories you'll need. ie. some skins have gear added to them, some skins have extra folders/directories in textures.
for example: when i do my skins for mohaa, my shader will generally look like this ....
while others may use this :
it's a pain in the *** but if it means only moving one file in and out, can be worth it.

What are you talking about? Just extract each and every single mod to a map (zzz_mymod) And then just rar it back up into a single file. (zzz_mymod.pk3)
what are you talking about ? sounds to me like he wants to move the files in and out of the main when he wishes to use the skins. if he packs them all into one big .zip or .rar file, the engine won't read them. sure your way he can move them around but he's not going to be able to use them in game. he posted he wants to put
all of the pk3 files into one bigger one
. one bigger one would mean a bigger .pk3 .

Try my way and come back to when it doens't seem to work out for you. I'll make it for you then :uhm:
That was me or my "comrade" whom posted for me. Im looking to make a "mod" BUT what im trying to do it put all my model skins, and weapon skins, iinto one big .pk3 file. (and have it work.) ive tried what i think u were trying to get me to do highlight all the skins, make a .rar then change the extention to .pk3 no luck... im just trying to get my skins (model, and weapons) into one big .pk3 so people can download it easy, and with the ease of puting one file in and taking one file out when nessesary. ive tried using PAK SCAPE .011 or something, but i dont know how to use it. so also no luck. im a noob when it comes to making "mods" or "skins" so please use common terms when replying
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR HELPING ME !!!! I APPRECIATE YOUR HELPFULNESS AND DETERMINATION 100%!
how many skins are there, i don't do spearhead but i'll take a look at it as long as it's not 50+ skins.
combining all the shader files into one big .pk3 is the easy part, each .shader file goes into the scripts folder with no subdirectories. you run into trouble when you start combining the models folder because you can't simply drag and drop the seperate model folders into a big models folder due to some models folders having subdirectories (ie. gear). same goes with textures, a lot of skin textures folders have subdirectories (example, you made a four skin skin pak and wanted to seperate the textures per skin)....
pakscape looks like it isn't running at first (what the hell, i only see a gray field) and don't freak, everyone falls for that at first. it's really just a big zip file extractor that happens to also read quake.pk3 files. simply click on the open file icon and search for a .pk3 then click on that .pk3 and on the left, you'll see directories that when clicked on, show the subdirectories or files in detail on the right. all skin packs have the following three directories:
- models (+subdirectory 'player') holding .tik files (and .skd, .skc, .lod files if any)
- scripts : holding .shader files
- textures (may or may not have subdirectories according to script/.shader) : holding image files
confusing ? maybe so but after you do it around a hundred times, it's automatic whenever you create a custom .pk3 (mapping adds even more).
i'd have to take a look at a spearhead .pk3 to make sure it's like a AA.pk3 (i think the only difference is 'main' becomes 'mainta') but if you'd like, i can write up a quick how to. it's basically a matter of making the basic folders, opening each .pk3, dragging what you can to folders allready made, then making folders you need and dragging the remaining files to the new folders.
again confusing yes, but simple only time consuming.
Hi ghost im not an expert but i think you have to open the pk3 files, and copy, the folders wich are in it ( Textures models, scripts ), after paste them in another pk3 file of your choice, save it and try it ;) i think that it should work ( sorry for my english im a french person )
