General Description World at War is a tournament-style campaign game for Battlefield 1942 Forgotten Hope mod. Unlike a clan ladder or other online tournament, World at War players will participate in a simulated war, complete with commanding officers, divisions, and a grand strategy map showing the progress of the war from week to week. Think of it as a cross between a strategy board game and a first-person shooter, where you can immerse yourself in realistic WW2 environments and strategy.

How BFE-World at War works Players will join an army and be assigned to one of that army's divisions. Each army will have a commanding officer whose job it is to make strategic decisions on where his divisions will fight, and once or twice a week the divisions will fight battles with the opposing army on maps representing the territory being fought for. The progress of the war is displayed on a strategy map where territories change color based on which army controls them. These battles are not just little one hour clan matches. They're full-fledged 20vs20 or more battles, each lasting 12 hours, during which time players may come and go, so that you may play as much or as little as you please. Units coordinate using the WaW TeamSpeak server during battle and plan ahead for each battle in their Division's forum. Ranks are based on merit and commitment. Do your job and you can rise on up and might even get the chance to lead 20 to 30 guys to victory or defeat. Best of all, orders are followed and everyone follows the plan! - Bfworld.net

Now, if you are interested in playing some real Forgotten Hope, where you can count on the fellow players on your team. Where air/tank/infantry movements are coordinated, where you know why you are attacking a given CP. When you want to get that feeling that you're really 'there'. Then WaW is the right adress for you, as mentioned above, normally twice a week there are official battles in which you get the chance to play, no time (play as little or much as you want) or skill required.

Signup is Free! this campaign (last campaign (reg BF1942) was $3/$5, donations are still welcome). http://bf1942.battleforeurope.com

Ohioan to remark on your concern. I do remember that battle yes (i was/am the axis general). In our campaign (which has ended now) we have had a few scrimms to start with to test new maps. Unfortunately the turn out was too low to accurately asses how a map would turn out. With the campaign having ended now were gearing up for WaW#7 and were using all the things that went wrong and went right to better the new campaign.

In organised play as we do it, theres boudn to be people not getting the good stuff in a battle. But don't worry your CO's always try to make sure that the company which was underdealt will get to see more action on the following battle.

Im there since BFE#2 (now BFE#6 ended) and it was a lot of fun! No smacktards, real teamplay, ranks, .. A great tournament with great Admins and a great organization!

Yea, we had some serious map issues last campaign. After all, it was our first campaign with FH and started just a month after FH was released. And considering that in the 4 weeks we had, we edited and converted over 35 maps to FH and the work was done by basically only 3 guys; I thought we did a good job. Operation Sealion, IwoJima, Battle of Rome were AWSOME. And we had some other great battles as well.

Now though, we have learned a ton about map balance in FH and are implimenting those changes into WAW7. So our maps will be hugely improved from last campaign. Especially with 0.6 in the mix this time around. Especially since it will clear up the most serious imbalance issue we had which involved the planes.

But yea, if you want to rambo and do only what you want when you want to do it in a battle; WAW is not for you. In WAW it is all about the team. At the end of a round your team either won or it lost. And for a team to stand a chance at winning, the members of the team have to be willing to do their jobs. Be it flying a fighter, or driving a tank to secure a bridge, manning the AA, or jeep running Engineers to a choke point to slow up an enemy advance.

But if you want to be in battles that are more than just seeing who can get the highest individual score and a bunch of guys running around almost at random... then come over and give us a few battles to win you over. Sure not every battle is perfect... but I've found even a bad day in WAW is better than the pubs any day of the week.

Never tried it, but I definetly think I'll join this time and try out the FH part. But there are some things I wanna now. I want to join the FH part, so should I just sign up as I normally would do ( Register to play ) and then I can choose if I wanna play FH, or how does that thing work? When will #7 start? That's all - Thanks!

The BFE-WaW is the most rewarding gaming experience I have EVER had. This will be my 6th campaign. This is organized TEAM oriented gameplay. You will probably hear comments like [CNI]Ohioan's (describing a very small period of a 12 hour battle, which is only one of the 16-18 battles played in a campaign) that sound incredibly boring or frustrating. This is not the norm. Like it has been stated, last campaign was the first with the FH mod and the imbalances were only apparent with full 25 on 25 battles. How many times do you get camped or TK'd or have a lousy time on pub servers? At the BFE-WaW the Admins/CO's/NCO's work HARD to ensure that these instances are RARE or non-existant so as to ensure the fun for all. Unfortunately Ohioan, you missed some truly classic battles where the 12 hour struggle came down to the last hour to decide who would be victorious. We are talking about a super friendly community, organized teamplay, and the rewarding feeling of being part of something larger than your normal pub experience. Check out the forums to see if the BFE-WaW is for you. We hope to see you all when registration opens ! http://bf1942.battleforeurope.com/ http://forums.battleforeurope.com/bf1942/index.php -elric-

I've experienced my first campaign of WaW recently and I just have say it was a great experience. There is tons of team work and fair play involved. You will see no nubbishness here. There is also a high amount of competition when playing against some of the best players out there in FH.

Not to mention, you are often awarded for your actions, which makes you want to play to your absolute best.

I recommend this to anyone who wishes to be involved in these very large FH battles, because they are a blast.

Don't worry about signing up for the FH parts. WAW is 110% FH.

Next campaign will start about 2 weeks or so after the release of 0.6. One, we want to use 0.6!!! Two, our map team will need those 2 weeks to re-edit/re-balance our maps and such. Till then, you can view/join our forums, ask questions if you have any, and join playing on our pub server killing time till 0.6.
