So heres the question, with all the censorship news thats been popping up (I suppose) and with this being a topic of discussion around my circles, I found it appropriate to ask the question: censorship in video games. Do we need more of it? Do certain games just go to far? Yes or no, and why?

games are exactly that. games. despite what certain people seem to believe, children CAN tell the difference between fantasy and reality, and those that can't have problems ANYWAY. so no, we don't need more censorship.
Nah, there is enough censorship already (in Europe, that is.). Living in South Africa, you don't get censored games. But back when I was living in Germany 3 years ago the censorship made me want to puke. You'd see green/blue blood, if at all. And in SOF2, fo instance you'd be battling CYBORGS in the Jungle....how...realistic... Anyway, I think games shouldn't be censored, just restricted, i.e. age limits enforced. Although if you're determined to get a game you will get eventually... Censorship ends when the game just isn't fun anymore, i.e. when they make a good game boring. :furious:
EA style: I blast this poor German soldier with a Colt.45. Instead of blood and brain tissue on the opposite wall I'll get puff of dust. c00l! Or not. I wonder, if a game is so nasty that it'll get censored so that small kids wouldn't get nightmares from it, why should those kids play that game at all? Don't they have caring parents? I don't want to live in a society where some govermental organization decides what's good for me or not. I can use my brains to decide what's good for me. If I choose to destroy my imagination with violence/porn/whatever I should be entitle to do so.
its just stupid games like SOF2 were good
I prefer SoF1 over SoF2. And no, games are censored enough. Porno games and such are not eeven accesable in stores. The only people that really complain about games being too bloody and all that are either the religious nuts or the people who think they are sheltering their kids from the real world. Big deal, it is just fantasy blood. I doubt your kid is going to go and kill hundreds of people, die, and respawn in the real world.
if its a realistic enough game they might, for instance, imagine this ~
the getaway - graphics sof2 - physics + weapons gta vc - reality {< yeah right}

true. these kids'll learn about violence in the real world soon enough, sheltering them is stupid.
i know yeah, like takin' drugs, they do it in games, and soon enough they are a crackhead {no not me!}
We do not know that games make people kill people. It's individual; some are influenced by games/TV/cartoons/ect and do this killing stuff, but they are a very small minority. The vast majority of gamers don't go and shoot people. To claim that games/TV/ect make you go nuts is absurd.
