Everyone has these misguided impressions that supposedly "softdrugs" are harmless, when clearly any person with expierence in the matter (that is one who is not a stoner) will tell you that all drugs, hardcore or not, will most likely result in a miserable and deteriorated lifestyle. When you start taking less hardcore drugs your body just doesn't except a certain dosage, it develops a need for something stronger time after time. It needs more and more to the point where the "softdrugs" aren't cutting it and it requires harder hits to function, and I shouldn't need to explain where that goes.

Weed is not the same as smoking in anyway. For one thing, and I dont understand why I must state the obvious here, if you take a puff from a cig your not going to get high. Thats when alot of the problems are caused, its alot like being drunk, only your sense of perception is even worse. Your mind can't function properly and your judgement is altered to where you can't make decisions clearly, often resulting in self-injury or unintentional injury to other persons. Thats not even to mention evidence from a study by the British Lung Foundation shows that tar from cannabis cigarettes contains 50% more cancer causing carcinogens than tobacco. Smoking just two or three joints is the equivalent of smoking twenty cigarettes. In smoking a joint the amount of poisonous carbon monoxide and tar entering the lungs is four times higher then the amount inhaled from smoking a cigarette. Im not trying to sound like your 8th grade health teacher here, just stating the facts. Tobacco is nowhere near as harmful as weed.

hm... that's different them what they teached me in health class. i never denied it was harmful though. but if people want to smoke 20 cigarettes in a day they're not stopped, or when they're drunk 24/7. this is not much different, not in my oppinion at least.

Just because people want to do a thing, that is not a good reason to let them. I would very much like to be paid to just have fun and not do any work. It's not going to happen. People who are drunk 24/7, or stoned, are just as useless, and often add to the problem by being destructive. Yet, for some reason, you view that as being more acceptable than a person sitting around on government hand-outs their entire life... if ANYONE is drunk or stoned all day every day, it is highly unlikely they have a job. And in that case, they are either stealing to pay for their habbit, or sponging off the state. Or both. And the number of drunks and stoners the police deal with every day is enough to add to the costs exponentially. Add the costs of government hand-outs and damage to public/private property, and you'll notice drugs indirectly harm a great many more people than just the people taking them. Some addicts to even the softest of drugs will assault - or depending on how stoned/stupid they are they will kill - to get money for their next fix. So it's not just financial harm to others. Alcohol is more than enough of a problem, and their is little chance it will ever be banned. Therefore, we are left with the prospect of legalising soft-drugs. Which would be rather foolish, IMO.

some people are just misguided and feel drugs are the answer to their problems...They also do it because of peer pressure, or just wanting to do something that is illegal or different...
