Ok so i am Vice President of a Student Organization for IT majors, and i have put a LOT of work into the group but it seems like the president is just slacking off.

I've since decided not to work as hard and wait for him to tell me to do something, and low and behold he sends an email at MIDNIGHT the day before telling everyone the meeting for the next day.

.... there will be like 4 people at the meeting INCLUDING me and him.

What the heck should i do with this? just keep relaxing and remember that it will go on my resume?

Crash

Well, you should talk to him. Maybe he is just too busy to do everything. See what he says, and if it's nonsense, try and get him removed.

The wrong thing to do is to slack off. You have to talk to him, and find out what's going on, then you have to work at ammending the situation.

*bump* as you should be, crash - i hate working in groups for that same reason - i am a "go getter" and slackers.. just dont work well with me. i am a loner when it comes to jobs, school exc... its expecially difficult being in the situation of having a slacker, when it reflects on YOU.

most definately - speak to him - and if not him, your school supervisor. SOMEONE should know what a pathetic president they have... and who knows - perhaps you will be bumped in his place ;)

Yeh, don't go to the 'authorities' before him though. Vikki, I'm going to be blunt, sorry. If you want to enjoy working in groups then you have to take initiative when people are slacking off. Like you said to Crash, -speak to him-. It's not the group thing that sucks it's when the group thing doesn't work that sucks. And for it to work, you have to change it. You might be doing that, you just didn't mention it :)

The first step is admiting you have a problem. :D Although it seems like you feel as if you don't have to do anything :uhoh:

If you be lazy and do nothing, something bad is going to happen, what ever it is you have to do is going to come back at you. You can't do it all by yourself, you need the help of the organisation, so we come back to the fact that you need to talk to this guy, so you can organise what to do. :deal:

You were saying before how you didn't like the fact that he was lazing off, and now you seem to be as bad as him. You'd be betraying the student committee if you did nothing. Being apart of it is a big thing, and you need to, as a member make sure it's moving smoothly.

So don't laze off, take the initiative, it's good training. :nodding:
