Thats just plain absurdity, sure there are the few who take the time to be politically aware, but the vast majority of teenagers are fools and would never take the process seriously. They would seriously screw things up. And more than thought, I dont think some kid deserves to cast the same vote as a good, hardworking taxpayer. They can wait a few years just the like the rest of us. Often 14 year olds do things on instant reaction alone, whatever crazy ideas they might have one moment influence their decisions. Another four years is a good set of time for kids to mature and get their heads in the right place.

Dear Ogre, the 14 year old voting age idea is not quite new. It has been a liberal notion for some time, in British Columbia Canada at least. The NDP (leftist party) that was in power a few years ago wanted to lower the voting age to 14. I guess they realize that 14 year olds lack wisdom and are in the clutches of the public school system, so are likely to vote to the left. Unlike California though, BC managed to embarrass the hell out of their crappy leftist government in the last election, leaving them with only 2 seats in the legislature, hah! It seems like liberal bunk makes its way from Europe to Canada and then it starts migrating down here through California, New York and Massachusetts. For instance, the gay marriage thing. Whatever you believe about that subject... the Massachusetts court citing Canadian law on the subject... what the hell was that? -www.madogre.com

Oh please, how many 14 year olds do you think would actually use the right to vote with regards to what was "best for their future"? First of all, not many. Second of all, their to young to know whats best for them. Thats why their parents vote. *totally off topic* congrats on the 3000 postage mark ^_^

Maybe 14 is too young. But im 17 now, and I want to vote (as would lots of my m8s). If the voting age was lowered to 16 that would be better, but 14 is way too young.
