Hi:
I've read this question several times in the forums, but no one seems to have a straight answer. Does ANYONE know exactly how to put global sounds in JA? Is there a tut out there someone could link to, or the thread where this question is answered? I did try to find it myself, but no dice.
It seems to be different in GTKRadient for JA than in previous versions. Come to think of it, is there a resource somewhere that shows EVERYTHING that's new/dfferent about the current version?
Thanks,
Canew
WadeV1589target_speaker with the GLOBAL flag checked.
Yeah, I thought of that. Doesn't work. And no, it's not the sound file. It's a stock, in-game file, and just to make sure, I put in a target_speaker with the same noise value with "looped on" checked, and THAT worked, but only, of course, near the speaker, not throughout the map.
Tried making a new target_speaker several times, each time using the same noise key and filepath. I checked the "Global" flag, and, erm, nothing. What am I doing wrong?
you mean to use that sound as background music?. select the worldspawn and type the following:
key: Music
value: path/to/thefile.mp3
Judging from what he said, no. He just seems to have found another problem with JA (*adds to list*)
MMh. I'm having the same problem with a "rain" JA stock sound. The sound is everything but global, but however it's looped. In an old tutorial for JK2radiant (James Mercieca's, I think...) I've read that you can't make a sound looped and global together... This is what there's written, but I hope it isn't so...

Yeah, it sez that right in the renderer in the entity properties window, that looped and global flags cannot be combined, but RichDiesel's tut said way back when that to do looped global sounds all you need is to click the flag. That's what I did, and I hear nothing. No global sound, no sound AT ALL from the speaker, looped or otherwise. Clearly something new needs to be done in JA, but what?
"Clearly something new needs to be done in JA, but what?"
Total overhaul of the code :p Seriously, lots of little bugs and problems throughout, including, but not limited to, sounds, fx_runners, ladders, portals, vehicles.
Ladders. I had to send my map to Raven to get the ladders debugged, even though they didn't change the EF ladder code.
