ive had mohaa for a year now, and in multiplayer most of the maps have flashing textures, and theres this very dark mist over the screen. obviously this is due to my crappy video card. my question is can anyone suggest a reletivly cheap but still good video card that can run mohaa (and for that matter other Quake 3 engine based games) to its fullest extent. Specs Compaq presario 850 mhz intel celeron processor 256 mb SyncDRAM PC100 Ram intel 82810E 8 mb video card Open gl capable(im guessing this is the root of my problems) 20 gb hard drive (pathetic) Windows ME fyi i can run warcraft 3 frozen throne and nhl2004 on this crap system, but thats not the point. ty for your help
Ā£50 Radeon ATI 9000 128mb DVI output and its PCI or APG runs moh on full graphic with a slight liag but 3rd res is very smooth , war3 exp rock on (undead is rigged)
Yea, the competition is ATI vs. Nvidia. If you go Nvidia start atleast at a 5600, a 5200 will be able to cut it, but games like Doom 3 and HL 2 coming out may be too much on an older card. Price usually is an indicator on the quality of cards, although some places can rip you off, or give u a great deal. As far as ATI vs. Nvidia goes, ATI is usually faster, but a bit buggy. For the most part, the drivers for ATI work OK. My friend has a ATI 9600 which works very well, i myself have a Nvidia FX 5900. You can't really go wrong with a video card, unless it's old.
Well a very cheap one is the GF4 MX440 SE, it got 64 mb in it. I got that card to and it works fine. Although a better one, but still cheap is the GF4 4000TI.
