OK So they announced Jedi Academy, due out this winter hopefully before december! But the announcement leads me to some questions:

1) The engine is basically another Q3A engine heavily modified, does that mean our maps will still work?

2) "Players can create their own characters by defining various characteristics, such as species, gender, clothing and physical attributes allowing for a more personal experience before entering the academy to learn the powers - and dangers - of the Force." Which leads me to believe the skin's and models from JKII won't work in the new game? or there would have to be some type of importer, but I assume the character models won't work.

3) How can I get on the Beta Team, LOL!

1) I highly doubt our current maps will work with the new engine. I say this because it is a modified quake 3 engine likely using a different coding system but maybe not since not much about the engine is really said anywhere.

2) models from JK2 probly won't work is my guess but if you are talking about the NPC's like roidians, jan, luke, etc. alot of them will probably be back in the game as enimies and luke/kyle are the leaders of the academy but if the customly made models use the same programs (like milkshape etc.) but different formats they probably could just be converted to jk3 format.

3) ya LOL  that would be awsome but you have to be part of lucas arts testing teams to beta test their games. That leads me to a question-why be a game designer when you only make the game and test it but never in full?? What's the point?

Anyways those are my answers to those questions. But all I know for sure is that this game will be cool. :D

Moved, no we're pretty sure the maps won't work. Yes there will be a way to move old models to JK3.

Oh and <----Wants to be on beta team too.

Ok so the answers from other source namely the post of the lead programmer of the game is this....

There will be tools released before the game to convert the models and maps over to the game. So I take this to mean they will just produce another jktradiant which will be included in a latter release of GtkRadiant release..So you can can then recompile the map. I also assume they will just have another versionof assimilate to convert models over.
