Hi. I'm making model in GMAX and I have some small problems:
I remember that I could do that, but now I'm sleepy and I don't know how to convert 3D shape to mesh.
Edit: I've selected from pop-up menu convert to> editable mesh. But now I can't convert next shapes
It's first question, prepare for next!
I think I've resized a model, now the problem is with tagging: I have to add "a right-angled triangle with a spline"
BTW, I'm making models with help of this tutorial: http://www.btinternet.com/~howe_alison/brothers/tutorial/gmax_jkii_tutorial.htm
And I don't know how to add this triangle. I think it's 2D object, but I can't find triangle...
You can make the tags by making a simple 3d shape, like a cube, then convert it to an editable mesh, then deleting all but one triangle and use that as the tag. As far as I can tell, tags are just considered an element of a 3d object, since they are not 2 sided (one normal facing in one direction).

I've made a cube, then I've checked "selection" option "by vertex". I've deleted one, and all four disappeared. So four left. Whet I've deleted one, whole shape disappeared Edit: It didn't disappeared, but I've lost view of one side. It is now one sided. I shall now rotate it, and select name (edit box near color selector) for this object, right?
I've also tried making NGon, but I don't know how to make from it triangle with some side longer than another.
Please explain mem more, because I'm :newbie: in modelling
OK to make the tags convert all the pieces of your model to editable mesh. then select on of the pieces and click the attch button and click the other pieces till everything is attached. Next you need to add the tags.. Click the Geometry tab and go to the shapes tab. Now select line and go the corect view for your shape (parent - top bladeX - one of the side views) then click and hold shift to get a staright line. Make two straight line perpinducular to each other while having one longer than the other. Then let go of the shift key and click the point where you started the line. When it asks you if you want to end the shape tell it you want to. Now right clik it and convert it to an editable mesh. Then just rename it to the name it needs and you have a tag. So, in short, just make a shape with the line tool that has two straight edges (one short, on long) and then convert it to an editibal mesh and rename it. :) Just follow the tut for everything else. EDIT:: found a less time consuming way of doing it after I read a small section of the above tutorial :p
Thanks. I will do that after I come back from school.
Can I check model without UVWapping? Just white, untextured?
when you say chack the model you do mean look at it in the mod viewer? if so i dont think i can help
just make a small .jpg file and apply that as a material then use that material in the skin file and it should work.
Okay. I have jpg (for OVW map - but this map looks strange). I'm selecting in in file browser, but I can't apply it on model (I can't open it in Material Editor - only view in image navigator)
you ever find a solution to your problem? I can't aply skins in gmax either... I have to bring it into milkshape to do that...
