Does anyone know how to make a camera in a map. I remember seeing one where there was a camera in one room, and in the other there was a screen showing what the camera was seeing. Does anyone know how that works, and how to set it up? Thanx.

Perhaps I am not being clear enough - You see these cameras often in SP maps made by raven. They are security cameras that when you go up to them you can see what is happening wherever the camera is.

I have not tried to do these in mp maps - I'm told they lag the map a lot.

But if you're interested, Bubba's tutorial:

http://www.planetquake.com/bubba/mapping.html

has a tutorial on camera portals that pretty much sums it up.

Good luck,

Canew

Wow, I didn't know you could make camera's and places were u can view were its looking. Im sure you could find the camera model in jk3 if looked hard enough. That would be useful for a control room to see all parts of a map and good for admins to see if any1's laming.

Yeah, trouble is my own advice ain't working for me. I just tried it and the camera monitor just shows a black box. Nothing inside it. ??? What shader in JKA do you use for the monitor?

system/portal_512 works I think.

Oh and for the reflective or camera surface to work in JA the brush you apply the shader to has to be covered in caulk (except for the one surface), structural (i.e. not detail) and most likely has to be part of the hull of the map with nothing behind it due to some seriously insane recoding of sort orders.

Weird... it STILL doesn't work... just a black wall instead of the monitor.
