I've made own skybox (based at Raven's skyboxes), I've put them into radiant (as white square with text "sky" at center). I've started game and i see grey field with white horizontal, vertical lines...

I thin I've made wrong .shader file Can anybody help?

Shader file looks like this:

textures/skies/tow { qer_editorimage textures/skies/sky.tga surfaceparm sky surfaceparm noimpact surfaceparm nomarks notc q3map_nolightmap skyParms textures/skies/tow 512 - }

I have it in shaders directory, and in textures\skies I have this:

tow_ft.jpg tow_dn.jpg tow_bk.jpg tow_lf.jpg tow_rt.jpg tow_up.jpg

So what's wrong? :uhoh:

And one thing more: Radiant loads all this sky images (when I want to view textures\skies). It also loads small white square with text "sky" named "tow"

So I'm texturing big brushes around map with "tow" (white square)

All correct, you just need to enter /sv_pure 0 before loading the map.

Also, be sure to add the skyparms in the pk3 for distributing it, that will also solve the problem, though it isn't too handy whilst editing.

What does make sv_pure ? I can use "non-pure" maps, skins... (If you are talking about it)

What do you mean? I don't know what are "skyparms"... Parametrs of sky.. hmm... I don't know :uhoh:

But thanx!

 YaY! It works!

But... when I give this map to someone, should this someone type "sv_pure 0" ?

Can I make my skybox giving light? I mean I want to use it instead of outdoor lights...

And could you look at http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?p=873971 ?

You will receive reputation! Damn it! You have disabled rep!

Let me explain what I said.

Pure servers means that only things that are packed in PK3's will be read, and I assumed your sky wasn't. So if you add the skyparms (Which are the 6 skytextures you used) to the PK3, your beta-testers should have no trouble with it. :)

OK! I understand. So how about sky that is lighting everything outdoor?

Well, you can use q3map_surfacelight in the shader, but it's handier to use an entity sun.

bad bad Gothix *slaps back of hands*

q3map_lightmapFilterRadius 0 128 q3map_skylight 100 3

Makes the sky lighting more uniform.

But for the sun, yes an entity sun is the good option!
