Well, almost done now... a new Aayla Secura skin (because lets face it, female Twi'lek Jedi are cool).
I reskinned three parts of the Twi'lek Female model... haven't put them in game yet (this is from modviewer) but it shouldn't be any trouble. I only had one lousy pic from the movie and a comic book, so I ended up using the comic as the main reference, so of course there might be some innacuracies.
If anyone is having trouble reskinning individual parts, let me know and I'll see if I can help out. Its not too hard to throw a model togeather using parts, and the posibilities for customizing them later are very intriguing. Also, notice that her torso isn't exactly the same as any of the others... you can mix and match some parts between models to achieve some interesting effects. Anyway, let me know what you think...

Do you know how to get it so the create a player skins will still change color? I made a new torso map and pk3 but it always stays the base color, even though I edited the alpha channel.
And here's my pk3: http://www.tunnelpigs.com/modeling/test.pk3
Also, do you have any idea how to edit the meshes themselves? I wanted to add more detail to the twilek model, because I made a new torso skin and it looked weird how they currently have it modeled (she has one giant breast shape that goes across the whole chest). I can get the .xsi file from the kyle and stormtrooper directories, but I didn't see anything else that's importable into 3ds Max or another program. Eventually I'd like to add my own components on to her mesh (such as armor plates, etc), but I didn't see any info on how to do that either.
Aye, I'm having some trouble importing the .gla into 3dsmax. I've successfully imported some of these from a few of the other characters and the sabers, but it doesn't like whatever's going on with the SP models (likely due to their very interesting compound nature). If you could help me out importing them, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance,
p.s. - oh, right. it looks pretty good. if that's the look you're going for, then i'd say you're pretty much where you want to be with it. nice work!
Nah, unfortunately I can't help with the modeling since I've yet to give it a serious try myself... and if I do I'll probably have to starts small with 'saber handles and the like.
As for keeping the color change abilities, I'm afraid I haven't been able to either, mostly because the program I'm using can't even open the Alpha channel correctly (I'm having to open with ACDSee and save as jpg.) I'm almost convinced the solution is in the players.shaders files. I've recently been experimenting a bit with them and its interesting to note (I didn't know this) that you can add any number of .shader files in .pk3s which is a nifty way of adding textures with special properties (like being double-sided). I've yet to make a concentrated effort to figure all of the posibilities out, but I do have a theory... I'll trst it out and if it works I'll try my hand at a full tutorial later.
Oh, btw, she's in-game and ready to upload now, so I think I'm gonna go do that ;)
Is she ready to dl yet? if so where from? I really want this as the JO Aayla skin I have cannot do the Dual saber Kata properly (she keeps hold of one saber), although I have noticed this on a few JO skins.
woo, thats a really good skin man, im hopin to get it soon ;)
Well, Thanx, glad you like it! :) I uploaded her a while ago and haven't gotten a response. Like it says up there, its been over a week (I uploaded just as soon as I made that second post).
Also, I modified the file so it actualy fixes a minor bug with one of the JA shaders (by adding a shader of its own). I just wish I knew whats keeping them from posting it (at JK2files.com).
are you gonna try skinning any of the other famous jedi using the JA character customization models? :D
Maybe eventualy. Right now I'm digging into the other spects of modding, tho. I don't have 3ds Max to do character models, but I'm hoping to do Lightsabers, and try my hand at a custom level.
I did have a lot of fun skinning tho, so Ill definitely do more of it. Just don't know when I'll get to other famous Jedi. I did make some custom heads, and a custom robe for the human jedis, including a female chiss head.
But before I get into another skin, I want to see if I can figure out the colors thing. I think I'm almost there, just need to try one or two things out.
