Hello, I really like the duelers mod... however I was a little shocked when our server crashes everytime some gets in a plane at the fchq map.. I was told that the Duelers mod does Not support NPC's... *cries* Do you all plan on changing that in the next release or two?? Thanks you, OG
I am also curious about that. NPC support would allow us to use these maps/NPCs once more.
If you provide me with the details of the situation where you see a crash then I will fix it. I had to make a lot of changes to collision code for the duel non-interference and I was worried about possible impact to vehicles and/or NPC's. You may have found the first problem.
Please give me the specifics of the map and what you are doing to create the crash. I will try to reproduce it on my development system and if I am able to do that, I will definitely fix it.
Byss Outpost, Force Council Headquarters, technically any map with NPCs. If you enter a vehicle, use it's weapon, or destroy any vehicle/NPC, the server will crash and restart. On Force Council, a fellow player took off in an X-Wing and the server crashed. Also on Byss, another player destroyed an X-Wing via Red DFA and the server crashed. On Byss, you can not use the Taun Tauns, and you can not enter a battle with the Rancors because you will crash either at that time or after the time limit is met.
Dementia hit the nail on the head....
OK, i tried the fchq map and flew an xwing. When I blew up a tie fighter the game crashed. So I could reproduce at least one example of what you are seeing.
The bug was obvious and I have fixed it -- at least for this case ;-). The problem was that the NPC code was handing the radius damage function null entity pointers. I just had to extend my handling to the possibility of null pointers.....
version 1.1 should work for you. (but not the current beta #2, or #3).
TY Lee, Do you guys have any idea when 1.1 may come out?
Depends on how fast I find the few bugs that have been mentioned ;-). That might be in a week, say. Let's say max one week and any bugs that have not been found will just have to wait till 1.x where x > 1 :-).
Of course, then there is the delay getting it out on jk2files.com (that took 2 weeks for 1.0). But I will put a link in the announcments sections to a private web page to allow folks to grab it earlier.
Thanks a bunch Lee. Hopefully that client 0 problem will present itself easily for you also.
