which program is the best to make lightsabers? Milkshape or gmax? Is there any good tutorial for these things? Previous tutorials are really vague...

Hey, check out this thread on the lucasforums, it helped a bit. I'm still having trouble making a good UV map in gmax tho. Its especialy frustrating cause I can do it really easily in Lightwave :(

Wohoo! I figured out the texturing! Check out this simple tutorial here http://www.studio-erebus.com/studio/tutorials/2003/uvw/dice/uvw-dice.html for making proper UVs in GMax. Its still a lot less of a headache in Lightwave I think, but hey :)

Yes, yes it is. And anyway, it doesn't help one bit cause there is no way to export to MD3 from Lightwave that I know of, so I had to do the texturing in GMax.

Anyway, did the tutorials help?

For a cube, that might help, but the big problem is trying to unwrap a cyilinder. I can't straighten the thing out after unwrapping. I never knew the skinning can be hard.

there is a material editor thing in gmax. you need to use it for applying materials. I was working in gmax a long time ago(in a galaxy far,far away) so i don't remember corectly.
