I am having really poor performance on my PC with Jedi Academy. I am running an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ with 256MB DDR333 PC2700 RAM and a Hercules Radeon 9800 128MB graphics card.
Surely with a system like this I should be able to play the game smoothly no matter what the settings. When i put the game on High Graphics i get between 15-25 fps and on lowest graphics i get between 30 and 49fps. This just doesn't seem right to me.
PS. I have directX 9b installed with the latest ATI 3.7 drivers and Win2K SP2.
There is on little thing i picked up, when i run the system checked (syscheck.exe) it gives the following...
Item Required Your machine Status ------ ----------- ----------------- --------- DirectX Drivers DirectX 9.0a DirectX 9.0 Failed Display adapter 3D Hardware No 3D Hardware Failed
The rest i pass....this is not right, no 3D hardware...lol...guess my Radeon 9800 doesn't classify as 3D Hardware then and DirectX 9b...i mean common...
Please can someone help?
You have a radeon 9800 but only 256megs of ram!?!? I think your putting the money in the wrong place. If you add another stick of 256megs of ram to your system it should run great. 256megs is BARE minimum to run windows, let alone windows and a game.

No 256 are enough. I suppose that your computer is messed up. I mean that your HD is has some errors. You should defrag or something like that. If nothing gets better, format your HD... That's the only thing. 256 Mb are enough and that's not a ram problem... I have a AMD 2200+ XP (thoroughbred) 256 mb Ram DDR 266, 40 GB HD 7200 rpm and a Geforce 2 GTS and it runs good. You can see by yourself that the problem is in your system... And, at least, Crome probably has a Radeon 9800 128 mb, and not the Radeon 9800 PRO... (annyway this doesn't explain the poor performance...)
Ya I have to agree.
You have a 128mb graphics card with 256mb. For the mathematically challenged that is half as much memory on the graphics card. Upgrade the Ram
I love the Radeon 9800 AMD XP
I'll repeat again the RAM memory is enough, but the problem must be somewhere else. But how could we help him if he doesn't reply???
256MB of ram is simply not enough these days. Your OS and whatever drivers and utilities that are running in the background are consuming almost half of that just staring at your desktop. Even 512MB is marginal for gaming.
Also, if you are using Very High detailed textures, there is a memory leak that will consume all your ram and virtual memory, too.
