I have exactly the same problem, I have a XP2600+, 1.5Gb PC3200 Mem, 128Mb Geforce4 Ti4200.
I have tried resetting all the game settings to the minimum, with no change, also turning everything on with no change, I have tried re-installing the game and I have also tried different graphics card drivers. I even went to the extent of trying both, onboard sound and a creative labs soundblaster live soundcard in case it was that, but still no joy. The game was lying on a shelf gathering dust until my dad asked if he could play it, he is running a 1Ghz, 384Mb PC100, Geforce2 Ultra 64Mb with onboard sound and it runs like a dream. Hence the sever stat of angryness! :micro: Please anyone can you shine some light on the situation! Regards!
that's indeed very strange :/ formatting computer? is it worth it for you?
thats the only thing I havent tried, I am considering doing it though, but If I do and its the same, well you can probably guess what happens next!
given this game plenty of options to work so far! 1 left!
hmm, or do this: on another HDD partition, install another windows... keep the old one though. then install the game on the new windows, and try.
I've decided to give up unfortunately, I have installed yet some more gfx card drivers with no joy, all the other games I have on my system work perfectly, Max Payne 2, Call of Duty, Star Wars Galaxies, Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam and so on.
My system is running fine at the moment and I decided I dont want to re-install everything. Its a shame coz I really want to play this game! for 2 people to have the same problem is strange, but for so many people to run it fine, theres gotta be a issue somewhere! Grrrrr
what is your vsync set at on or off? and do you have dynamic glow enabled? try toggling either of those and try your luck... like duder said above that is verry odd... and i realy dont have an answer for ya. can give you a couple suggestions though like what i stated above. Make sure you toggle both of those in your settings before you enter a server and give it a try. I dont think reformatting is the answer however... Too much work for a problem that might be verry verry simple. also check your resolution. i recommend 1024x768. but maybe try lower if that doesnt help. Also i take it this is with mp... if people are using cloak that could be a cause of sluggishness. Again i realy dont have an anser for ya but its got to be something realy simple. Maybe even within your video card settings, or possibly try a new version of direct X or reinstall direct X if you have the latest version... sorry i cant be of more help. Nova
I have tried Vsync set to off and on with no difference the same also with dynamic glow. I noticed that I get bad sound lag also when I put the sabre into the wall. I tried different sound settings and no joy there, I guess DirectX is an option I running 9b at the moment. I havent actually tried Multiplayer yet, its weird cause everything is perfect until I swing that sabre, which is what the game is all about really! Appreciate your help!
You said you have more than 1GB ram... This may be due to the OS... Sometimes on win98 (for instance...) you may see some troubles if you have more than 768Mb\1GB ram... Which OS is JA running on?
It's probebly sound, I used to have a problem with the sound on GTA:VC. It was so bitty and slow until I updated my sound driver. But maybe your sound card is not very good.
It made my car go slow and then ping into a crash. It's like when your lagging to bits on the internet because of your ping, if you ever tried JK2.
Nah, I had a problem, like yours Kylek. I had an audigy2 and when I was playing GTA:VC it was gradually going always slower: the problem was the Audigy2, which was totally BROKEN (no audio drivers). But this time it goes slower ONLY when he slashes the saber. So i fear it's the RAM amount...
