I'm asking this here becasue the tech support guys at LucasArts think it has to do with the servers and cannot help me. But if I go to the gamespy stats page, it says there is about 500 people playing at any given time, so it has to be somthing to do with my machine. I hate to register just to get help, but here is goes.
I cannot populate the serverlist. Period. I have all the options set correctly (I have it set on Internet, not LAN, ect) and no matter what I cannot get the servers to come up. 1 out of 50 times, however, a couple of servers do pop up, but never when I click on "Get new list", only when coming back to the menu from another (i.e. the main menu or switching between connection modes). If I can actualy connect to these phantom servers (without the "invalid game folder" error because of all those damn illegal copies out there), the "connection interupted" symbol is on solid. In other words, completely unplayable.
I have a Linksys cable modem connected to a Linksys router and a legit copy of the game.
Things I have tried/status of my comp:
I fresh install of windows and a defragged HD. All my other MP games work just fine (BF '42, UT2003, RTCW, ect). My router firmware is updated. I have all the laterst drivers of everything. I have restarted the router and modem a million times. I have reinstalled the game. Thre's probably more to this list I can't think of right now.
Becasue of the fact all my other games work fine, either this is one hell of a bug or I am missing something very obvious.
Anyways, any help would be vastly appriciated. Those damn bots are do easy. And I wanna play SIEGE!!
Thanks in advance.
Well, I'm having problems on my server end here, if it makes you feel better.
I'm running a small duel server (4 player slots), and it seems 90% of the time it doesn't show up on the duel rooms list. I literally wasted hours yesterday trying to figure this out.
When it does show up, people flood the room in seconds after launching the game. I get loads of people trying to connect. My settings are always the same....
I just don't get it. :uhoh:
Make sure the server filters are not turned on in the multiplayer sections. Example, only show siege games.
