Hi guys, I am trying to get back into OFP again after about 3 years away from playing it. I hear there are now DX9 patches etc that add reflective water and so on, they sound sweet. I am also keen to dowenload any patches i need to bring myself up to date and which Mods are the best. I am keen to play with British kit from the last 10 years or so if any Mods out there cater for the likes of me. But any great mods will probably be downloaded and tried.

Hope you can help guys, OFP used to have one of the best fanbases around and i hope it is the same as then. Cheers.

If you are looking for large mods, one of the best ones you can get is FFUR. It improves the gameplay by a lot. Another mod I can think of off the top of my head that was pretty good was Vietnam: The Experience.

Swedish Forces Pack 4. A very well-made addon pack. I recommend it even if you're not Swedish because Sweden has alot of neat Swedish made weapons that you've probably never seen before.

Even the Swedish army uses SFP:

Just incase you didn't know about this site, I find http://ofp.gamezone.cz/ to be a great place to look for minor addons. Every week I download at least a couple I find interesting, most of which were of pretty high quality.

FDF Mod is essential in my opinion. Even if you haven't the slightest interest in the Finnish Defence Forces, it's far and away worth getting for all the custom sounds and config changes.

Along with a massive complement of Finnish soldiers, tanks, wheeled vehicles, aircraft, weapons, objects and fortifications, for WW2 and modern scenarios, a full campaign, many single and multiplayer missions, several new islands and even several Finnish voice profiles, it adds...

* Various handy objects, one of which is a fuel can you can use to refuel a vehicle away from a fuel station.

* Deployable heavy weapons. You can actually pick up and move an M2 machine gun (or any number of other heavy weapons the mod introduces) and deploy them elsewhere.

* There are also other unique weapons and equipment, such as an axe, a baton, even handcuffs you can use to constrain people. (Only those with the key can open the cuffs)

* Combat divers who can swim through deep water.

* HALO parachute insertion, with controllable parachutes.

* Ejector seats for jets.

* Various civilian vehicles, including a Saab 900 sedan, sporty "Amis Car" Skoda sportscars, and boats. * Various config improvements -Weapons feel much more realistic, because along with their new sounds, which are much louder and a lot more authentic sounding, the guns are now harder to handle because they have more recoil. They are less accurate, but not through using special (unrealistic) high-dispersion ammunition. It's basically entirely due to the simple fact that it's harder to aim them. (Once you learn how to minimize the effects of the recoil, you can kill just as accurately and efficiently as anyone, something you could not do with HD ammunition), also, burst mode is removed from certain weapons which should not have it, such as the AK47 and G36. -Smoke from smoke grenades actually does block AI soldier's sight. In the original game, (whether 1.00 or 1.96, it makes no difference), smoke was purely asthetic in value, AI can see through it. In FDF mod, smoke blocks AI's line of sight. Changing a (mostly) useless gimmick into a useful tool. -90% of sound effects are replaced with vastly better ones. Tanks, which sound in the original game like light vehicles with squeaky treads, sound much more convincing, with the powerful rumble of the engine and the treads combining to sound more fearsome than before. Almost every sound is changed. The sound for picking up equipment, the sound for repairing a vehicle, the sound for just about every helicopter, tank, jeep and truck sound in the game. Even the horn sounds on the civilian cars and the sound of rain falling have been changed. The pitiful sounds of the handguns introduced in Resistance, which sound almost exactly the same from one gun to the next, are so vastly improved I was amazed. Effects from explosions are also replaced.

Also, to improve the graphics of OFP, I highly recommend DXDLL and Hi-res skies, both by Kegetys.
