lets see here, as Mr Penguin put it, 1,000,s upon 1,000,s of pirated games get made and sold for a small fee or just get sent to friends and he thinks it does not hurt the industry or the big guys. you are about as smart as a bucket of bolts. $50 a game x 2,000 games pirated (as an example) = $10,000 that may be pocket change to lucas arts, but lets say 10,000 games got pirated that would be $500,000 not such small potatoes, now lets say that every game lucas arts ever made had been pirated.. that would go into the millions wouldn't it? pirated games do hurt the maker of games.. worse yet i believe you hurt the consumer even more (us). almost all games cost around $50 and it always has for the most part, even nes back in the day, but what if no one pirated? would the games be a little cheaper? maybe not, maybe so, but in my mind you could be making it so we never know if the games will be cheaper. i can not remember if it was you or another poster that said the goverment takes money from your pay check and it is not considered stealing. i my self do not like the money being taken out as well, but for people like you or that other guy, if the government didn't when you get old you are not going to have any thing because your social security check will be zero. (since i am assuming you are poor and save nothing in the bank because you have to have pirated stuff in the first place) also where do you think all that money comes from to build schools or play grounds and stores and conveinces for you? out of thin air? where do you think the government gets some of it's money to build the Abrams battle tank to cover my butt and the Bradelys that i ride in to dismount to cover theirs? your and every one else's tax dollars. if you don't like it here go some where else. hell go to iraq, maybe i will see you there. any way from what i have heard all those free games and movies that people have been down loading will be stopping shortly... those that have downloaded a certain amount will get fined and a jail sentence. it is a high number i believe for music, i believe 1,000 but ummm.. do you really want to take that chance. every time you down load your ip address and lord knows what else gets logged on their web sites. just a warning to those that do it. and for those of you that buy all those pirated games, there are crack downs on it, read the computer web sites and you will see it. of course joe blow snuffy wont get caught unless he is extremely stupid, but joe blow snuffy might have a surprise for you when you boot up your comp. BOOM. hahahahaha just a warning. oh and why on earth woudl you ever want to play a game that is so inferior to the actual game it self? missing parts of a game, bad resolution, slow down, and what ever else or even not work at all? any way, every one take care.

theres already a sticky about illegal junk, but eh, i see what your saying.

anyone that can afford a PC that can actually install and play the game, can afford the $50. im only 14, and i've bought over 20 games in the past year or two. come on, im 14!!! and look how easy it is for me to come out with money.

and most of the people who pirate games, and use the pirated games, are over the age of 20 i assume.

you lazy bastards get off your ass, get a job, and get out of your parents house!!!!

....losers

Just so that it is known i did in fact purchase jk3 and that i purchased around 80% of my games. That said, Sometimes i feel the 59.99 (canadian) pricetag is somewhat steep considering that games nowadays have basically no inovation and are extremly short. I bought jk3 today and finished it....today. That is what i call a rip off and ive been noticing it in more and more games. Oh sure u could argue that theres a multiplayer mode but frankly the JA multi is not worth boasting about at least not at the moment. What im getting at is this. Some games maybe worth playing but arent worth buying. thats where getting the rippped version comes in handy. I play thru it a bit if it blows ill just keep the rip, if its good ill buy it, simple. Of course not everybody buys the game afterwards and sadly you cant ingore the facts. Piracy is damiging to the gaming industry. The last thing i want as a dedicated gamer is to see my favorite developer go out of business because some idiot decided to not only to avoid paying for the game but also to distribuite it freely to the masses of similarly minded idiots.

Bottom line. if its worth it buy it.

Oh and as for the piracy stoping soon......maybe music and movies, but definetly not games, they dont birng nearly as much money as the other forms of entertainment. Well..... if i had to give it a chance....its about as probable as weapons of mass destruction turning up in iraq :D GG

-peace

Ok, as far as the rules of Gaming Forums go, there is to be never any talk of pirated games. And as stated, there is a sticky icky thread on this.

Yeah, if I would be able to buy it in 50$ I might have buy it.

But you know how much is the delivery fee to Israel? It about triples the sum. There aren't any Star Wars games sold in Israel.

Not everyone got a good economy like you "seems" to have.

"anyone that can afford a PC that can actually install and play the game, can afford the $50."

True, but is it worth it? That game should been a expansion game, since it didn't bring too many new stuff and I could almost find more bugs in this then I had with my first copy of JK outcast. I would bought it if it was cheaper.

"you lazy bastards get off your ass, get a job, and get out of your parents house!!!"

Yeah right. You think it is easy as that? And lazy bastard? And those words comes out of an 14 years old kid. (lol im just 1 year older but whatever...) Get a job isn't easy as walking into a company and say "Im free." And then you'll get your job. Not even close.

Im not saying you should pirate copy every game and don't give a shit about the company. Buying a game will automatic help the company and encourage them to make more sequels and updates for the game. Some ppl download and tests the game, and if it is good enough they buy it. And if it sucks, they PROBABLY remove it. And theres their free test. And it wouldn't be illegal... it's like running over to your friends house and play game before you buy it.

what if the copy doesn't work? you buy the pirated game and then base your opinion on that instead fo the actual game. the pirated game is bound to have bugs in it or what you think is bugs is just a bad copy. i am not saying JA is perfect, but it looks good enough to me and plays good enough for me as well and i am happy i payed the $50. it is true though... some games seem to be getting shorter and shorter... but most are getting prettier and preitter. if you were expecting a long game you should know by now that most FPSs (Fisrt Person Shooters) don't last long. a day to me is 24 hours... that seems a good stretch for a FPS of today, of course you could mean 6 hours which of course is not good. i my self have not beaten the game yet or even delved into multiplayer yet, i will wait till i beat the game so i can learn all the moves or most of them and then become a padawan in the jedi order of online gaming. hahahahaha. this certainly does not have the magnitude of Half Life in way of total hours played, but even after that game was dried up and old the comunity made so much for it's multiplayer expect. i have down loaded day of defeat, the battle grounds, natural selection and many others, some i play every day and there are hundreds in developement and at least 50 more free games i can get for it. and no this is not piracy, these are free MODS (Modifications of the existing game engine of half life). these guys are not getting paid any thing except for the counter strike retail version now and the just recently retail version of day of defeat. (i still enjoy my free copy THAT the makers of the game INTENDED to be free.)

but back to what i was saying the pirated game may not have every thing you are expecting it to be, how can you play the pirated game on line? i know some one... i will just call him Sergeant (hehehe.. good lord if he sees this he is going to kill me hahahahaha  ) borrowed a game from me and even though he knew not to burn it because of how i feel about it he did any way behind my back. well he gave it to a buddy of mine that needed a copy of half life so he could down load the free games and guess what, he had to use my cd key to get online and if he was on i could not be and if i was on he could not be. now you take that one cd key and divide that by at least, at least, 50 people and i am sorry, but i am not sharring my game time for multiplayer games based on when wet be hind the ears kid is getting off so he can do his home work. :-D plus as i had said there should be more slow down and other things that joe blow's copy machine is just not getting to you and you should not base the actual game it self on it.

as for trying a game out before you buy it... well i can not stop you personally, if i could i would, but there are free demos you can try out. i got one about 8 days ago from planet half life which has a bunch of different sites as well. i am sure that demo was there for weeks before i found it. try it there, but by no means rate the game from that either since it is not complete, but you can get the feel of it. i my self didn't even bother trying the demo i have been so busy lately. but there are other options out there. and i have no doubt that they have weapons of mass destruction in iraq or did... it took so long for us to get over there... so does that mean you are going to get caught now for having pirated games? :-D but that subject is for a whole different forum and has nothing to do with games. also i realize the tax in Canada, but it is nothign i can really do abou tthat. save a little more money. for the 15 year old that doesn't have a job... well i am a grown man i can not just spend money that i do make on every game that comes out. i have to pick and choose. now i am not saying you are a particular type of guy that has burnt copies of every game that ever came out, but i know a few that do get burnt copies and they get them all and they are that way, so instead fo just hurting lucas arts they are hurting ea games, and mythic and who ever else. and they will continue to do that stuff because "A they can, "B" they don't want to actually spend money on it and "C" because they think they can not get caught. and for the young man in Isreal (sorry i can not spell) i am sorry for your situation about not being able to buy it there and i would feel you have the best reason to get those types of games, but even still... how many other kids/people where you are from feel the same way or in all the other countries? 100, 000? a few million? (i doubt that much... but i don't know.. there are a lot of people in this world)

any way, if you do it shame on you and don't get caught, but do not blame a bad copy of a game or no multiplayer on the game company because you wanted to be cheap and get a burnt one, after all you get what you pay for... most of the times. take care.

Yea all in all, pirated games are not the way to go. I just wish some games would live up to their price tags. Oh and as for games getting preetier, a wise man once said: grafix dont make a game. :D well acutally he wasnt very wise since he's spending most of his gaming time playing CS the most overrated casual game in existence. And acutally without the grafix, would you still be able to have a decent ga,e  LOL, anyway....
Marker0077 EDIT: Edited due to profanity which is prohibited in most of GamingForums. You still haven't responded my post, what if you can't buy the game in your country, and the only way to get it, is to find some online store that does deliveries to there?
