~AzH~i wondered when WWII would be thrown into the pot with the "USA saved you". Tommy is displaying signs of Americanisation right there. yes! lookit! too much holloywood, too little fact.

america didn't "save" the UK. the UK was saved by Hitler arrogance, R.A.D.A.R., and a small body of water. YOU know this Tommy, i read it in your posts in the past.

"crushed" italy..... my overall knowledge of the Second World War is not brilliant, but i imagine the US didn't fight alone on Italian soil.

"freed" France. did you get this from Saving Private Ryan? i've always been impressed by the strength of your posts on WWII history in the past. you KNOW this isn't fact.

"toppled" the Soviet Union. the USSR unravelled all by itself. NATO (not USA) just had to play a waiting game. NATO had wealth, USSR did not. it all came down to money. i'd suggest that the USSR toppled itself.

as for Berlin & Germany. once again, you generalise. the Allies were more that just John Wayne and his cronies.

"saved" Asia, with the help of hundreds of thousands of Allied troops and two Atom Bombs who are still effecting the populations of Nagasaki & Hiroshima today.

"liberated" Kuwait. this is an interesting one. why....? WHY? do you think it was out of a sense of moral duty to uphold freedom in the Middle East, or part of a long term plan to gain a foothold in the region to further influence what happens there? oil... it's all for oil. oil = money. please don't tell me you guys believe that the US "liberated" Kuwait because the thought it would be a "nice thing to do".

i could go on but i have to go to work. i don't hate America. i have no reason to. i do question the validity of their action overseas and i suggest you take a close look at the motivations for being in Iraq right now. War on Terror? really?

Hollywood eh? Never been ther saw like 4 of the movies they made. They were completly inaccurate on ww2. The United states liberated France and took Italia with the help of British and Canadians, help they did not need. The US had more fresh troops, more armour, more planes and more everything then anyone in the world in 1944.. They needed no help from briton and Canada, It was to simply show that the countries are working together. I know everything there is to know about the allied invasion of Italia and there is no way that Briton could have came in by themselves and won. Do I love America? NO if they drop another bomb on rome I will kill there damn president. Does anyone in Italia like america? Don't care this country is made up of useless lazy annoying murderuous people. One thing you do not realise is the aliies are made up of what there strongest leader is, that is america. If it wasn't for them nothing would have stopped the soviets from taking all of germany from france and england. For that matter the french and british would not even be in berlin because they would have had no way of getting there in `44.

KillorIf it wasn't for America, what would have stopped Germany from dumping radioactive waste over England, or making the nuke first? Seriously, if you're not a huge WW2 buff it's best not to argue the subject. One book that should be required reading is "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich." And that's all I'm going to say about that.

The Soviets!

if i follow your advice how am i suppossed to learn what you guys think? Tommy cleared up the issues in his post (thanks Tommy). i freely admit to not knowing EVERYTHING. i didn't do history in school. the curriculum was focused on the middle ages and all the crap, not modern history. so, thanks for the advice, i'll argue if i want to argue, and if i am wrong i'll take that like the adult i am. i really don't see it as a big deal.....
