I just installed a new videocard (went from Geforce 2 GTS to Radeon 9800), and now, the menu in BF1942 looks like crap. Previously, I ran at 800x600, and the menus looked fine, and I could usually hit escape in-game and get to the menu screen without any lag. Now, even if I run at 800x600, the menu screen looks like it's got scanlines (like an interlaced TV), and if I hit escape in-game, it takes at least 10 seconds to get to the menu. Anyone else ever experience this? Btw, I asked in the off-topic since it's not really on the topic of the mod, but I felt like this place was full of knowledgable people, and I don't really frequent that many BF1942 related forums.

I tried taking a screenshot of the menu screen so you could see what I meant, but when I pasted it in Paintshop, only the background of the menu screen showed up, none of the actual content. Basically, it's sort of like every other horizontal line of resolution is missing.

My 9800 pro works fine as well, maybe checking other games will help. Maybe they gave you a faulty one, I had that with several vidcards.

I'm pretty sure it's not the video card that's faulty. This same thing happened under certain resolutions with my old video card, but right now I'm running at the resolution where it didn't happen and it is happening. Every other game works fine, and 3DMark2001 and 03 both work fine as well.

Did you make sure you DL all the drivers?

I'm using the Omega drivers from www.omegacorner.com. They worked pretty well for my Geforce2 GTS, and as far as 3D stuff, they're doing great on this card. I'm trying to figure out if there's some setting I have to tweak to make it display the menu properly.

Ok, found the solution elsewhere. I had to edit a file somewhere. It's such a relief to be playing the game in 1024x768 at high detail pretty smoothly after having played it for months at 800x600 at medium, with a bit of choppiness here and there.
