My brother is doing a paper on militaries of the world and their spending and he's been trying to find the cost of one of these for a while now. Google has yet to turn up anything.

If anyone knows how much one of these M1A2 Main Battle Tanks cost could you please reply with the amount and the source?

Thanks!

The cost for replacement tanks for one lost in battle is an estimated $4,300,000.00 taxpayers dollars a tank. The actual build and running costs are probably around 5 million.

The $50 million price tag was for Australia which bought 59 M1A1s with spare parts and training. Last I recall the M1A2 was somewhere in the ballpark of 4-4.5 million. You could probably find that at globalsecurity.com or FAS, but it was what I was told from a cousin who was a crewman on the M1A2.

Crud, meant to say $550 million on the deal for the Australians. Shame they have qualms about DU.
