If you think OMG in FH is unbalanced...try it in BG42. The allied air-raping may lack the typhoons...but the have Spitfires which are very effective against ground targts ala vanilla BF, the damn Lancaster too. The allied infantry can paradrop RIGHT on the main bridge/town area, along with TWO static 88's on the main road towards the end of town. I played for about 45 min, and could not get a single piece of armor across the the bridge. Even in the King Tiger, i was dog meat. 8^(((

bg42 owns you. It's not arcade, it's video-game-ified realism. All the values are realistic, but divided by three so it's fun to play in a game. The units' relational balance is still there and they are accurately well represented, it just makes battles last longer and generall makes the game more fun.

BG42 isn't that arcade at all.....

In fact the vehicle damage system isn't all that diffrent from FH i noticed playing 0.95, and some tanks fire pretty flat trajectory too. The big diffrence is that rifles do not kill in 1 shot to the torso but in two shots just like in bf1942.

If you look at what has been going on in FH with the Panzerfaust fragging online you could call that arcade too.....

The one thing i think BG42 really did better then FH 0.5 are the maps. There isn't a single BG42 map that i do not like, while i don't like almost all FH 0.5 maps. For the ones that never saw BG42 maps, by all means do check them out. BG42 Stalingrad ( Not DICE Stalingrad !) and BG42 Swamp are just the maps for dedicated infantry players, while Operation Citadel is a true tank battle map FH has not produced yet. It is not only the quality of the maps that pleases me, but also the amount and diversity of them.....

The thing i think FH does better are the detailed skins on the vehicles, those of BG42 seem crude and not detailed.

Both mods have their benefits and drawbacks. Too bad both are not interested to merge or cooperate. FH could really use BG42 maps, some FH 0.5 maps have beautifull vegetation and detail, but more then often the bases, flag positions and battle area's ruin the whole map by poor layout, wich results in baseraping and predictable fighting in predictable areas, with predictable outcome. But who knows.......initially FH refused to cooperate with Merciless too.

Well after playing BG42 0.95 I still have the same compaints. Looks good, maps are fine but realism needs work. FH is still more fun. I only wanted to play their P-39

And was severely disappointed. It still has the US PTO cammo and markings, and flies like a dumptruck. Its slow to get off the ground, doesnt turn nearly as well as the Me-109 (in real life the P-39 easily outturned the Me-109 ) And it had all the wing guns which the Russians removed from their P-39's.

But I did like the US A/T guy. He had a bazooka and a M1 carbine. Was able to engage Germans and tanks.

In agreement with BOW, BG has alot more single player maps which are nice too. I liked their Citadel and Barkmanns corner maps.

I know, after all the discussion re: the P-39, I had to try it out. Wow, they did not capture it at all, it really flies like crap. I am so looking forward to the better one in FH.
