First, if you plan to use this on a laptop, FORGET buying the game. Mobility chips are not supported period. The game will tell you that your card does not support Direct X 8.1. Strangely I get the same error on my home PC with a ATI 9600. This is the same result for 2 other friends who bought the game.
Now I do have one friend who is able to get the game playing. I can not remember his computers specs exactly, but let me say Doom 3 played beautifully on his pc. Now PA has to have at least half the options enabled in order to be playable. I was told the single player campaign was way too short. That was not a big problem as we like to play online mostly....
Online play was HORRIBLE. OMG they need to take a page from COD on how to do multiplayer. Lag-omatic was how I would describe the play. Not to mention that the graphics were dumbed down even more just to play.
All in all, I am one angry gamer after shelling out this money. The store agreed to accept a return today so I got my money back. My suggestion if you really want to play this game, wait a while until they have at least patched this game, which they definetely will have to do. Patches may or may not affect the game, but PA at the moment seems like it was rushed out of beta in time for Xmas.

I too, have a radeon 9600 SE.----May I ask; what kind & speed processor you have?---Mine is Intel---Pentium 4.
My desktop is a AMD 64 3500+ with ATI 9800. My laptop is a AMD 64 3400+ w/ Nvidia Geforce 4 440. The 9600 is on my workstation with a 2800+ XP.
I bought the director's edition dvd and have had no problems. It runs alot faster on my computer than Doom 3 does.
My specs. Intel 4 3.06 ghz 2 gig DDR 3200 NVIDIA 6800 oc 256mb
Both of you seem to have much faster & more powerful machines than I do.---I will have to buy the game & check it out. ---But, so far, I've had good luck with the Assualt games. Like I say, I have the Radeon 9600 SE 128 meg card, -Pentium 4/ 2.40 Gig. ---512Meg of Ram. ---I added a second hardrive to helpfully add speed to the system. ---I have not had a chance to get to the store yet. Do you think the game will work on my older system?
Who plays games on a laptop anyway? desktop PC's pwn them. But if the online plays not good...then that in my opinion ruins the game.

The Netcode on the Demo Version which you are playing is appauling. Remember it is the demo, not the full game. I have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB, 2.4ghz CPU, 512mb RAM and it runs fine. I think that a Radeon 9600 does support Direct X 8.1 and I have no idea why it wasn't working. Update your drivers perhaps.
Agree, laptops weren't made to play games everywhere you go. So understandable that games work bad on it, use a desktop pc like everyone else for playing games.
Hey i 'm the new 59 yr old kid on the block I have had MOHAA for some time and think is still one of best out there . I just bought the add ons for MOHAA tonight and MOHPA . I can tell you it take some horse power to run MOHPA i found out. A7V 333 AMD 2800 1024 of 2700 5700 Ultra OCed MOHPA @ 1024 X 768 / no AA or AF on / medium / medium and still seeing some frame shutter in the big action parts. My two cents McLowry
Almost all the new games coming out require a little more horsepower for sure.. But that a first I heard on that game....we haven't heard anyone complaining untill now..strange
