what is the file I need to open to change the car names inside the game and what program do I need to open the file?

i can't help you there, you'll have to use find. i wasn't talking about you posting in a different section, i was talking about it getting moved by a staff member

The file you need to open is called american.txd which is located in the main san andreas folder, in the subfolder "text". To open and edit it, you need a gxt editor.

I can't find one on FileFront, so you can download one here:

Use it to open the american.gxt file, then in the "Table Name" box, click on "Main". Below that, click on the "Value" heading until it's alphabetically listed in that column. Then scroll down to the vehicle name you want to change, and click on it. In the window on the right, change it to the name you desire, then click on anywhere in the "value" window again for change to occur.

After your done, save the file. Be sure to back up the original before making any changes, just in case.
