Hi all I would really like some opinions on a problem I'm having with Quake 4. If I run It at 1280x1024 with ultra quality settings the game freezes at times, and then keeps going. It does not do this If I'm running in high quality mode. I have tried switching video cards, and memory to no avail. I've used an xfx geforce 7800gt, and an ati x850xt, both with the latest drivers. Any Ideas?

Doesn't the ultra setting require 512 Vcard RAM ?

It says that, but I also have an 6800gt rig with only a a64 3000+ that runs the game perfectly at ultra quality. my current system has an fx53, and can't run it as well as my lower spec system. I,m going for a motherboard upgrade, but fear that if its one of my components causing the problem, I'll just carry this headache to my new system.

I have no idea then. Are you running the same drivers on each machine? I really can't see why one would work and one not. Same sound drivers also? I don't see what the motherboard has to do with it:confused:

Thanks for the input, I'm waiting on a new board, to see if the problem will follow me. hopefully not, but if so I may need to possibly switch processors, as that is the last avenue I've yet to explore. Unless of course it's a windows problem.

Same Window versions? Couldn't be spyware? You don't play on Ultra online do you?

I have a X800 PRo and have not tried to set it there, doubt I will ;)
