Hello there, I used to play quake 1 way back in the day and loved it.. To be honest I wouldnt mind playing it again if anyone knows where it is at or where to get it.. anyways... While playing the demo ( i just bought the full version ) it was lagging on low quality.. Im assuming it might be my video card because the one I have came with my computer.. here are some specs: Pentium 4 2.8 ghz with HT (heard amd is better for gaming but cant afford a new processor) but under the device manager in my computer it is showing 2 of these processors?? 1gb of memory 80gb harddrive with over 60gb still avail. after the game was installed not sure what video, probably an onboard video.. i know it is intel? anyways if you are sure this is the problem what would be the best video card to get to help out? I mean I cant afford to much and there are a few listed on the back of the case.. thanks - JAcob oh btw this is not when playing on the internet. this is play single mode.. i do have cable modem though just in case

If you do have an onboard vid card that is your problem. You need to find out if you have an AGP or PCI-E slot before we can suggest a card. I am betting it's an AGP. You could pick up an ATI X800 PRo for a decent price which will run the game fine. What is your budget?

Ok well... I reinstalled quake 4 and it works now.. still a little bit laggy. Here is the kicker. I only have a TWO PCI slots and 1 PCI EXpress 1 slot. I think the little black one is a PCI Express 1 (not 16). I do not have a AGP which is kind of weird.

So you are able to play Q4 with that onboard card? Low settings I presume? Find out for sure what kind of slot it is and grab yourself a decent card, then you can bump that eye candy and frames up :)

Yes.. lowest quality, 640x800 i think.. whatever the lowest resolution there is.. That is with the onboard video. I know for a fact I only have 2 PCI slots ( the white ones ) and a tiny tiny black one that I assume is the PCI-E 1 slot ( someone told me meant for a modem or something. It is not the PCI-E 16 slot ) So if I was to get a video card, not really to get better quality, but to just make it stop lagging, what could I get for the PCI slot? Not really wanting to spend hundreds of dollars lol

Do you happen to know the model of your PC? I can't see how it would not have an AGP, although you could be right. We can look it up on the net to make sure. If it's a PCI then search for that but I'm not sure which one yet.
