This may be in the works somewhere already but I thought Id post it just to see if I could get any info.

I wanted to know if anyone was going to remake CTF-Hall Of Giants for UT2k3. This was one of my favorite UT maps and (in my opinion) think it would be great on UT2k3 as well. Anyone know of any plans to put this together?

Yeah, I totally loved this map too. There actually has been a remake of it, but I'm sorry to say it wasn't very good. There is also a Tokara Forest style remake of it and an Egyptian style one too, but none of them have that same atmosphere of the original, so someone should get crackin'! PLEASE!!!!!!

Any idea where I can get those Tokara and Egypt remakes? Id just like to check them out for myself if possible.

There are actually 2 remakes of UT's Hall of Giants. The remake that holds the name of the original is actually a very good map... but the pipes need lots of work... they don't work properly, and if you do a forward dodge, you get gibbed inside the tube (might have been a one time occurence... who knows?), and it a bit too dark in places. Hall of Gods, however, was not only an excellent remake of "Giants", but also changed the theme to an Egyptian theme, that looked really good. It also played very smoothly, and handled bots rather well.

If I could make a suggestion to you... instead of redoing the Hall of Giants map for CTF, I'd really like to see a port of the original made for Bombing Run.

Could be rather interesting.

Here's a pic of the blue flag area of Hall of Giants... I'll get some more pics up of it later, but this should show how much darker it is, compared to the original.

Considering the fact that curved architecture is now possible, a Gigeresque (H.R. Giger, artist of weird biomechanical stuff, designed the creature in Alien) remake of the Hall would work brilliantly, I think. HOG always looked like it was trying to make an attempt at that kind of style, but as only horrible corner-filled BSP was available in UT, it remained just an imitation. Unfortunately practically the entire level would need to be prefabricated using a modelling app then ported into the game as a load of staticmeshes... so you'd need a modeller rather than a mapper to create a really amazing revision of Hall of Giants =P

Um, well the Egyypt one is called Hall of Gods, while the tokara one is Forest of Giants I believe. And both should be on ut2003hq.com if not on ut2003files.com.
