After downloading a mulitplayer map, is it possible to explore it before finding a server which is running it? I've been forced to explore as a "spectator" but there are some maps which I've not seen playing on the list, but I was interested in at least exploring it if not playing it. (Deep Blue)

Thanks --Sgt Strycher

There is a way... Start RTCW and pull down the console and type in: /devmap mapname that should start you up in the map and you can check out the whole map and know what to do before playing for real.

Bring down console and type "/dir map" or (maps) you should get a list of maps to run them type. he's an example "/map the_raid" "/map rocky_beach" "/map the_jaunt_beta"

True, the /map command works just as well. I like the /devmap, then i can lower the grav, change the speed, etc. Really get a good look at new maps.

I wanted to do this last night because some construction worker severed the fiber optics lines in my neighborhood, so I had no cable internet or tv. RTCW multiplayer would not work! I wanted to run a MP map as a server so I could exploring but it would never start! How aggravating. Does RTCW check for internet status when you start multiplayer? Because the single player started no problem.
