:dropsjar: Which one is truly better? I persoanlly favour the MP 40, don't ask me why, and I was wondering which is actully better (if this is the case, state reason)
Any opinions would be welcome.

I thought I read somewhere that the Thompson is better. I dunno. I usually take that gun anyways. Plus you can pick up the enemies Thompson ammo :)
Seems to me that the Thompson is not as accurate as the 40...something about the spread settings in the game itself. I do seem to get better and more consistent head hits with the 40...also do better at longer distances...
Slightly cooler than a n00b

the mp40 is a 9mm------the thompson is a 45 cal --so it is not hard to figue out which one hits the hardest --the 45 spreads more because it kicks more --but it will kill quicker
what you are saying is that in close combat maps like Communique use Thompson and open-aired maps like beach invasion use the MP40. :p
I did a little research about the game settings and found this info on the www.wolfensteincenter.com/ site:
"After each weapon just look for return xxx where the xxx will be a number which determines the amount of spread done, the lower the xxx the less damage will be done, meaning it's more accurate, the higher the spread then the projectiles will be scattered over a wider area."
The spread on the MP40 is 400; the spread for the Thompson is 600. So the Capt is right on - use the MP40 in wide open stages and the Thompson for "close encounter" stages. Also found that the damage rate for the MP40 is 14 and for the Thompson it's 18. So the Thompson does more damage.
I agree with Rammer that the Thompson based on caliber will be the harder hitting. I'm going to do a little research to satisfy my own curiosity as I wonder what the muzzle velocity of each weapon is - this will have alot of bearing on the damage done. I've been studing WWII since I was a kid and have many books on the subject so may be able to get more details....if anyone is interested I will post findings. All in all, the programmers did a great job authenticity wise with the MP game.

And all along I thought I was the only one that never made a mistake....
It seems like the MP40 is a bit lighter as well don't you think?
mp40 weight when empty - 4.03kg thompson m1 weight when empty - 4.74kg (dont even ask how i got this info) ;)
why does it make a difference?
