Im trying to put a song into my map and i have followed tutorials on this sh**!! and still its one big headache.............Ok heres the programs i have to help me convert sounds and/or music: MODPlug player, Modplug tracker, Sonic foundry SoundForge "i get the *ogg files from it" i think thats all of them. I converted the song wav to a *it file and when i try to import it it doesnt show up at all, it did the same when i saved it as a *um file omg this is very annoying please help:(

also i tried import other files and an error would come up and UnrealED would shut down.

hey, once you convert to a .ogg file you place it in your C:/ut2003/music dir. and then open up your map and goto map properties/Audio and thats where you select how loud will it be compared to the guns/noise i nthe level and make sure you type in the name exactly to what the file is named or it won't work! :) Hope this helps. You can only import .ogg's, nothing else works-- not even the Unreal Engine's own .umx music files!! I vaguely remember hearing Epic were planning on making .mp3s importable in a future patch, but this might have been dropped. It's easy enough to make your own .ogg files though, go to www.downloads.com and search for the dBpowerAMP music converter. When you've got it installed, go to http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm and download the codec files for Ogg Vorbis (don't download the Ogg 2.0 codec-- I think UEd can only import 1.0 .ogg's). Then if all goes well, you can use dBpowerAMP to convert your wavs, mp3s or whatever into .oggs that you can import into UEd using Ultimate's little walkthrough above.

I figured out how to add music to maps and make the server download it to everyone. Check it out one of our guys ported over a few ut maps that we made years ago in ut vsk-ClanKillersArena & vsk-Warzone in his first attempt to use the new editor 'don't laugh' Once I got em I decided I'd mess around with em a bit and try to finally figure out a way to add the music and sure enough I did. Any experienced mapper can open up either of these maps to see what I have done & simply duplicate it, Just wanted to share just like I do most evenything else I make. enjoy www.vskclan.com/maps/dm-vsk-clanarena.zip & www.vskclan.com/maps/dm-vsk-bombingring.zip

Just in case you cannot figure it out, Make a wav, 16000 mhz 8 bit mono, Create a uax & put it inside of there, Create a ambiant sound in your actors add it to your map right in the middle select your song as the ambiant sound, crank up the volume to about 150 depending on how loud you made your wav and select bfullvolume true, then raise the sound radiouse equal to or greater to half the width & height of your map, Thats it btw you don't have to mess with patterns either.

Jeez Ray that's the worst way of adding music into a map I've ever heard!! If you do that the player won't be able to change the volume of the music, and most serious UT players prefer to play with no music. In case you didn't notice, Ultimate and myself already posted the RIGHT way to import music into a map.

BERZERKER, Counter-Strike was built using Half-Life's modified Quake II engine, which works in a totally different way to UT2003's engine. Basically, this means in terms of the internal workings of the game, how it all works and is put together, there's very little that's similar between the two games. As far as I know (although I've never had to download a map from a server before, I download all my maps from NaliCity or UT2003files instead-- much quicker), sounds music and everything else that the end-user doesn't already have should be downloaded along with the map.

One more thing about using the map on a server. What do i have to do to make that work? People try to connect and get some kind of url error. Please enlighten me! Thanks!
