I am so psyched about RtCW - even though it is probably a long time to go for release - I have just completed the Crypt level again - on my 4th or so trip through the game :) RtCW is still the 2nd best game ever, behind only Half-Life (and of course Half-LifeĀ²) imho.

I hate to break it to you, but RtCW was released three years ago.

I doubt there will be a sequal to RTCW since ET came out. What's really a shame is that virtually everyone who played RTCW left the game for good when ET came out. In effect, they killed off a better game. Also unfortunate is that the sissy cheaters ported all of thier Quake III cheats to work in RTCW, and the game began getting filled with cheaters less than 4 months after it came out. After about 6 mo. it was so full of pantyboys that it was no longer worth playing. It happened even faster with ET... cheaters began showing up by the dozens the 1st or 2nd month it was out.

Unfortunately, as long as game makers like id Software keep making their games in such a way as to allow for modding, cheaters will be rampant in their games, just as they have been with every Quake 1, 2, 3 engine game.

The best way to reduce cheating is to make closed- content games. It's the only way. But, id Software just doen't get it, and because of that, every game they release or game using their engine becomes full of cheaters in a couple of months.

Personally, it's a slap in the face to pay $40-50 for a game only to find that in 3-5 months 1/4 to 1/3 of everyone playing is hacked. That makes games based on id Software engines a very poor value. It will be no different with DOOM III. It will be almost cheater free for a few months, then the pantyasses will figure out how to make cheats for it, and every game that uses the DOOM III engine will have plenty of cheaters withing 3 months of it's release. That's the history for id Software. Allow for modding = lots of cheaters soon.

It's a sad waste of our money.
